Anders Hejlsberg on C# 3.0
spongman writes "Channel9 has a video of Anders Hejlsberg demoing C# 3.0. The new language enhancements include implicitly typed locals, extension methods, strongly-typed lambda expressions, anonymous types, and LINQ - a builtin SQL-like syntax for data access. The spec, samples and a working compiler can be found on MSDN."
Can't Microsoft people just subscribe to a news group or something? C# is not usuable for any serious work unless you're on windows, in which case you have a MSDN subscription. Do MS get a free front page story with every paid for ad on slashdot now, buy 1 and get 1 free?

Or C#
So is "homofagot", which is what you are.
I will write // stupid!. // ass!. // weird!. // asshole!. // puteman!. // pig!.

Linuz is my friend.
Looks like Toad for the completion stuff.
Nothing really revolutionary but it was not so well integrated before.
You were an expert in a language without knowing its background and history?
I've had this sig for three days.
I can't believe this got rated insightful.
.NET does not necessarily mean platform/vendor lock, either.
The real problem is that while your competitors were rewriting their products in Java, you were sticking with VB. And now you want to blame Microsoft for that.
Having used VB on exactly one project, I must admit that writing a large app in it suggests masochistic tendencies. But I think it's fair to blame Microsoft for following Microsoft's advice.
The fact that many vendors are basically untrustworthy does not mean that you shouldn't yell at vendors every time the shiv you. The vendors can learn from the pain, and your colleagues learn to fear the vendor when they hear you yelling.
And
You mean in the weak sense that some vendor could theoretically reimplement it someday? That was true for VB, too. Doesn't seem to be working out so well, does it?
Open source means that I can get to the code and make it even better. That is not anarchism and it is not the end of capitalism, free enterprise. When MS open sources their software, then MS will find the love they so desperately want from slashdot.org. Until then, they will send paid flamers like you to say how naughty truth tellers like me are. The purpose of slashdot.org is to show the world that making all the source code available for any software you write is the best possible way to make all the code work better, faster, smarter and [oh my gosh] even less expensive. Hmmm. For those of you who bother to read these threads that espouse the virtues of MS, remember that true free enterprise does resemble anarchy in some respects. Monopolists fear true free enterprise. Let free enterprise reign and let the anarchy begin!!!

Do you get paid by the slashdot.org post?!
Slashdot.org does not have to pay homage to MS to survive. It has proven that over and over again. Slashdot.org will prove its resilience again as Vista is released and the MS FUD spews waste in amounts and levels of hatred never seen before. MS knows that this is the battle of Armegeddon for its OS. If you think that your FUD will go unresponded to, you are sorely mistaken. Slashdot.org loyalists are ready for your dirt and we will respond with class and truth.
Reject your weathly master and join us. You still can. You are always welcome.
