Star Wreck Released as Download

Arto Rantala writes "After seven years of production, Star Wreck: In The Pirkinning, the Finnish Star Trek / Babylon 5 parody movie, was finally released on DVD a month ago and is now available for download. In spite of its practically zero budget, the film has a hilariously captivating story, top notch CGI and even a couple of performances from professional actors. Download it now and buy the DVD if you like it! I know I did. You can also obtain it directly from the .torrent"

So if you can, mirrors would be greatly appreciated. We have a fast setup, but there are a lot of people downloading the movie.

Here's a mirror, only has the highres content right now, since the torrent was way faster than the plain http download. But it will get there eventually too.

Feel free to hit that, we can handle the load. :) If you need to offload your servers, you can provide http redirects to that host, once we have the wmv properly downloaded too.

"Did that ever take a *damned* long time." People have waited this movie for years, it was out in the midnight local time and Slashdot publishes an article full 23 hours later. Is this still News for Nerds? Get some priorities! =)

Anyways, enjoy the movie - I pre-ordered the DVD and I've only watched it three and half times, but even based on such flimsy conclusions I can say I seriously think this thing just rules, one of the best scifi special effect movies I've seen, parody or not.

What I find it interesting is that the website also has the .srt subtitles *and* a fairly detailed explanation from the translator on the intricacies of the translation - I sure hope this will make fan-provided translations a little bit better. Right now, I'm waiting for them to release the kind-of-promised SW:ITP soundtrack. This movie has some damn good music.

oh p155 off... I've just finished watching it and have been in fits of laughter... you must have had you sense of humour extracted some time ago... there are several very deep in jokes in it... I especially liked the bit where Pirk and the Babel 13 captain were fighting each other in what appeared to be a tunnel... rather reminiscent of an early star trek episode where one protagonist was locked in eternal combat with his opposite from the anti-matter universe... and Pirks' female bridge officer... hmmm... seriously hot, those legs just seem to go on forever... especially when she's pulling her boots up most of the time...

Yeah, just watched it and I mostly agree with your review.

I'd gather that DVD version is better visually, I'm not a hifi junkie, but those xvid artifacts were hideous. DVD may also have better resolution to look for those easter eggs (communication system.. ;) and other funnies.

It was so very weird to watch the movie and recognize so many places. B5-alike station features a hall, walkways and auditorium from my school, Tampere University of Technology.

It has its rough edges, but it's funny, even the most basic wooden-leg-jokes (checking malfunctioning blaster..). And damn, it's a full 2 hour movie packed with things like that.

Well, even Xvid cant do magic, and for a 100minute movies, they could at last have mde it 700MB to fill a whole cd (that would have impreved things quite a bit already).
