Xara X to Be Released as Open Source

zero-one writes "Xara today announced that they are releasing an open source version of their vector drawing program, Xara Xtreme. They already have a Linux demo but source code is not available quite yet. Xara Xtreme on Linux will not only bring a leading-edge graphic tool to the platform, but with community assistance, has the potential to become the world's most powerful, easiest-to-use and simply the world's best graphics program. If they get this right it could bring the Linux desktop into whole sectors of the market that is has not been able to address before."

I love the fact that any criticism of Linux (which in this case -- see parent -- can't be more on target) gets modded as Flamebait on /.

Honestly... I like Linux, I use Linux, but mainstream it sure as hell isn't.

When Linux developers start recommending Linux to their mom's I'll know they're serious about the mainstream.

I guess what you are also saying is that you are a copy-and-paste troll, or that new slashbot I hear about.

I like any alternatve to The Gimp. The Gimp has the worst interface I've seen in a graphics application I've seen since the horror days of DOS-based apps. and many of them were easier to use than The Gimp. The Gimp isn't bad for what you pay for it, but even though it's available for my Mac I still chose to spend money on Photoshop because I can at leats get things done in Photoshop. I don't have the time or energy to try and figure out what the hell The Gimp wants me to do in order to get it to do common tasks. I want to spend my time getting things done.

I just want to let you know that this message right here, on your screen, in front of your face is living, breathing proof that you are incorrect. I am verbally defending my choice OS, Windows XP.

Setting aside your retarded copy+paste+replace/personalize the previous message, it doesn't even fit the context of this topic, or this site in general. No-one in the history of Slashdot has ever, and I mean EVER been denounced for supporting Windows.

You're parent message does have a point. Us Windows users are much more understanding of others' opinions than you Linux zealots. For example, look up www.fuckmicrosoft.com. Very elaborate anti-MS site. Now look up www.fucklinux.com. Doesn't exist. Why? Is it because us Windows users are a little more mature than the average linux zealot? Perhaps.

I think I'm going to write a paper. About slashdot. Everyone on Slashdot says "microsoft sucks" and "down with big brother", when in fact Slashdot is quite totalitarian in their attempts to censor the masses to make the majority (Windows users) feal inferior to the minority (Linux users). What I mean by this is, whenever I get caught submitting Linux criticism, people mod down. After enough of this, my IP is banned for a while and I can no longer post; thereby eliminating one more "M$ fanb0y". Ban enough people who don't cherish Linux and you've got yourself a community of only one type of person, the one who fits your little "schema" (think Hitler). Has Slashdot become the big brother that it sees and hates in Microsoft?

I know one thing for certain. Your lack of writing originality is stunning.
