MySQL CEO Insists He's Not Supping With The Devil

jg21 writes "In the continuing saga of the decision by MySQL previously discussed here on Slashdot to make a deal with SCO Group, the company's CEO Marten Mickos has now granted an interview in which he addresses the inevitable criticism that the deal has provoked in the F/OSS community. His main defense seems to be that other companies have ported to SCO too. He admits money too played a part." From the article: "We believe that porting a GPL version of MySQL for the SCO OpenServer platform gives thousands of users more options when it comes to choosing a database -- which is a good thing. The deal produces revenue for us and this allows us to hire more open source developers. We didn't make the decision lightly; we knew SCO was a sensitive subject with the free software and open source communities."

It's not thousands, it's almost a couple of millions. The sanctions that the UK and US forced the UN to continue with killed almost 2 million people, mostly children under five. Something that the US knew would happened according to some declassified document ("Disease Outbreaks in Iraq" and "Iraq water treatment vulnerabilites", 1991) from US DOD. The whole thing would not have happened if there was not oil in the region.

Most of it began in Iran 1909 when the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company(later The British Petroleum Company) was founded. By 1950 the AIOC had control over all oil in Iran, when the Iranian people and government wanted a share of their own resources the british refused. The democratically elected leader Mossadegh of Iran nationalized the oil which almost resulted in a war against the Brits. They blockaded the Iranian ports and boarded cargo ships. The Brits even went to the World Court, but the World court ruled in favor of Iran. So the British MI6 and the US CIA overthrew Mossadegh and installed a dictator. The control of the oil was restored and the US got a great strategic advantage since Iran was on the boarder to USSR.

However the Americans and their cruel puppet government of Iran fueled unknown powers which later surprised both Kennedy and the CIA when the Iranian revolution took place. To regain control of the region the US under Ronald Reagan started to support Saddam, they supported him when he did his most cruel actions, the official report of CIA still states that it was Iran that gassed the kurds in halabja (possible cover-up to protect Saddam?) of course the media has been almost silenced about it, I have only seen one article about it and that was some years ago. (Read about Iraqgate and the Iran-Contra affair for more info). Ronald Reagan was not such great leader as many people think. The hatred in the middle east was created by US foreign policy.

Iran, Irak, Saddam, it has always been about oil...
