1 Million Windows to Mac Converts So Far in 2005

UltimaGuy writes to tell us AppleInsider is reporting that according to one Wall Street analyst over one million Windows users have switched to Mac in the first three quarters of 2005. It is speculated that these numbers are a direct result of the popularity gained through the iPod and related technologies in addition to security concerns from Microsoft. From the article: "According to checks with Apple Store Specialists, Wolf also said a larger than expected percentage of Windows to Mac converts appear to be purchasing Apple's higher-end systems and that their transition is fueled by the epidemic of viruses and malware on the Windows platform."

Screw the Postmodernists, but in my case, every reading [of a Slashdot story title] is a misreading :7

Apple Store Specialists Do you suppose these specialists abbreviate their title on their business cards?
Hey, it could be worse. There was once this woman who took charge of a college in Southampton and was going to re-name it Southampton Higher Institute of Technology until someone tapped her on the shoulder and pointed out the obvious.

I once worked at Bolton University where someone once suggested that we call it Bolton Academy of Science, Technology, And Related Disciplines. Now that would have looked great on a business card in abbreviated form!

Macs are for FAGS and for rich people! What happened to support linux? sounds like you are all on the steve jobs bandwagon instead of helping linux to kick their rick-white ass. linux is helping the world to change to become a better place... not OsX which is there just to serve corporate needs and make white america a richer place.

Linux is a great desktop OS: KDE and Gnome have all the functionality you would want in a modern desktop OS, they are easy to use, attractive, and reliable.

Wow... You really need to get out more.

Apart from the dozen embedded OSes that would be in the average home. (car, phone, TV, DVD player, etc, etc, etc).
