How Bad Will The 360 Shortage Be?

shrouded writes "Rumors have been growing the last few days about hardware shortages for the launch of Microsoft's new video game console this month. No one is speaking about it officially, but off behind-the-scenes whispering makes it sound like initial supplies won't even cover people who have pre-paid for their machines. eToychest spent the weekend asking retailers what they anticipate for the Nov. 22 release date, and its not pretty."

Besides the people Microsoft has been caught flooding message boards and calling/writing in to stores trying to create artificial demand for the 360, is there anyone remotely interested in the machine?

You have to have seen how bad the games look at your local Walmart. After months of developers and others talking about how weak the hardware is, it should be finally clear what they were talking about now. Even the hope that developers weren't using all the cores has been put to rest with interviews from 360 game developers all saying they are using all three cores. Yeech. These crappy looking 360 games is as good as it going to get for the machine.

I can see why Microsoft has been so desperate to get the 360 out the door before the PS3 and Revolution arrives in a few months.
