Turner Testing Holographic Storage

Izmunuti writes "An article in ComputerWorld describes tests by Turner Entertainment of a holographic storage system from InPhase Technologies as a possible replacement for magnetic tape for storing their movies and other programs for playback and broadcast. The article states that each holographic disk holds 300 GBytes." Even more impressive is the cost per terabyte estimated for just a few years down the road.

    ...of course, the mandatory FBI warning, the RIAA-MPAA DRM protection , the EULA, and trailers to the next Disney movie, all on autoplay.

    As an Easter egg, there will be holographic images of the Feds AND the MPAA army of lawyers who will see to it that you've clicked 'I Agree' on the EULA. However, you can choose to display them in 4:3 aspect ratio or in HDTV format if you do not meet the necessary HW (think R2D2 from another post) requirements.
