Xbox 360 Very Unstable

fmwap writes "There have been several postings over at Xbox-scene complaining of crashing Xbox's on new games, with default settings on single player. Crashes on Xbox Live and on startup have been reported too, and Project Gotham Racing 3 crashes before finishing the first lap. Screenshots and Video are available showing the crash."

As a thought, has anyone checked their boxes for an "activation code"? ;o)

The last software Microsoft produced that was even remotely stable was the operating system for the Commodore PET back in 1977. It's all gone downhill from there. Microsoft should make keyboards and mice and leave the tough stuff to the experts.

First to market? I don't recall MS being first to market with pretty much anything. They come late to market with buggy software and rely on monopolistic business practices to remain in the lead. Of course I'm not saying anything everyone here doesn't already know...

This actually surprises people? Hell, a friend of mine has gone through two Xboxes. Both of them made a horrible grinding noise, came up with an error, and scratched the living hell out of whatever disc was in 'em. Both then became unusable. Meanwhile, while the damn things did work, they locked up from time to time or displayed error messages of some sort while games were being played.

Now that the Suckbox 360 has been released, I expected a product that wasn't a 20 pound pile of garbage. It looks like they've yet to fix that 'garbage' part, that's for freakin' sure. You know, I almost hope this trend of crashing continues. It'll go to show the ineptitude of Microsoft's programmers and engineers, and hopefully teach them a hard lesson about rushing a product to market.

This is a Microsoft product. It WILL crash. End of story. I'll be waiting for the Nintendo Revolution, thanks.

the XBox cannot work as desined. There is insufficient cooling.

Too bad but they're all flawed. The only solution is the scrap heap or to sell them to people who live in cold places, like outer space.

As my screen name might indicate, I (like many people here) have a general distain for Microsoft products.

So being a Mac enthusiast now translates into anti-microsoft? That's unfortunate you see the world in such black and white terms.

I guess this means since Rush is my favorite rock band I can no longer listen to (and must slight at every possible oppertunity) Pink Floyd. That's a damn shame.

yeah.... my guess is "ten hard days of troubleshooting" is actually 1 hour of explaining "don't bother testing, it'll only effect a few units" and 9 days 23 hrs of Chinese prostitutes.

On the XBox-360 poll, my answer was Never / X-Mas 2006. Launch prices are too high, I do not care about the coolness factor of having 0-dayz new stuff and I had doubts about how well the initial hardware would work. Quitting the bleeding-edge to stick with mature mainstream stuff has saved me quite a bit of cash and trouble, I'll stick to that.
Yea, I'm going to wait till Xbox360 game rips start showing up on bittorrent too.

    ANSWER MY QUESTION:

IF (did you read that part of what my original post) Nintendo Revolution was this buggy or worse, WILL THERE BE A SLASHDOT STORY SAYING "Nintendo Revolution Very Unstable."

Even if there was a story to this effect, and even if Revolution was much worse than 360 in terms of stability, it would say "Nintendo Revolution has few problems, but ok"

    Just admit it.
