Canada Moves to Keep Skilled Workers

ashitaka writes "Just in time for all those who have vowed to leave the United States in response to government policies and mainstream cultural malaise, the Canadian government is announcing a C$700 million initiative to help skilled workers stay in Canada and become citizens. If you had the choice, would you really uproot to a new country especially one where the lifestyle isn't that much different than your own?"

Maybe you should go study a fucking map you dumbass frog.

That said, enjoy France. But don't ruin it with your "habitant" talk. Learn some proper French and speak with dignity. :-)

I wonder why Canada even bothers attempting to be independent.

Why doesn't Canada just join United States? It would be most beneficial for both countries. Canadians would enjoy a large tax break while US would see twice our current landmass.

It does for Canadians. If you dont have a health-care card, you're not going to get the treatment (unless it could have a bad impact - a broken arm is not lifethreatening). Still, it is weird he got no treatment for his arm. dont just blame the health care system however.

Furthermore, is it really a bad thing that he didnt get an xray on his head? could have bad effects on the brain.

I speak French [not fluently but enough to get by]. I took it in school as an immersion student. I lost interest when I realized that it's not worth it [comp.sci doesn't require it].
Well, if you decided to be stupid, it's your right, but you have to accept the consequences (see below).
And besides that, Canada is bilingual not French. Why should French only speaking citizens get jobs with the government when they can get out a couple English words while the Anglophones have to speak French fluently to pass as "bilingual".
You fucking shithead! Canadian bilingualism is only here to insure that the english don't have to learn french!!!

But again, the english are too fucking damn stupid to learn french. But we, the french, have superior intellectual abilities, because we do learn english!!!

Why should I as an anglophone business owner have to display French signs on my business in Quebec? What if I don't speak a word of French at all?
Because we don't want the immigrants to get the idea that they can think that they could be able to live in Québec without knowing french. And if you don't speak a word of french at all, what the fuck are you doing in Québec anyways, you numbskull???
***That's*** why the English are pissed off. Not because the government is bilingual but that the government FAVOURS the french over the english.
They favour the french because we are superior, that's all. When you hire a french guy, you know he speaks english AND french. It makes the company smarter, too.

But you decided to be stupid. So it's no wonder you can't get a decent job with your limited intellectual skills.

Healthcare here is fine. My dad needed a replacement hip. He saw a specialist within a week, had the operation scheduled shortly thereafter, and poof, he was in physio with his new hip before he knew it. Oh yeah, it didn't cost a damn thing either. Yes, taxes are higher here. But hey, the healthcare alone is worth it.

No, seriously, you're kidding, right? Well paying jobs? In 2003 sales associates at Walmart averaged $8.23 an hour according to Business Week and earned an average annual income of $13,861, which is under the poverty line. Their health care plan covers less than half their workers. Doesn't sound like the Waltons are making any great sacrifices here. Maybe the stuff you buy is cheaper but the savings came from somewhere and it wasn't from the Waltons generosity.
