Justin Baugh writes "The Free Software Foundation and the Software Freedom Law Center have released a document detailing the guidelines and the process that will be used for revising the GNU GPL, and have launched a new website related to the V3 process. It was announced in a press release this morning that the FSF will be releasing the first discussion draft of the new license for comments at the International Public Conference for GPLv3 at MIT on January 16 and 17, 2006."

(Just joking, I know perfectly well that the filthy GNU-monkeys will not do anything remotely sane.)

Good God - you know, I'd always heard that he was scruffy, but I'd never taken the time to find out how much so. Holy cow, he looks as worse than the local Comic Book Guy. How does he expect anyone to take him seriously in person? I mean, if he's really attached to having a beard and long hair, he could have a well-trimmed beard and kept long hair instead of looking like he's never showered. I know sikhs (who're prohibited from ever trimming their beards or hair) with facial hair that looks less natty than that.

the supposed "new website" detailing this is one page of html asking you to sign up to a mailing list. lame, they could have at least put up a lay version of the main changes

Every new and significant piece of open source software has ditched the viral GPL thankfully.

Purging the nasty tentacles of the GPL will be long term but extremely worthwhile goal for open source software.

I look forward to a future where only free licenses like the BSD and others have a place in the open source community and open source business world.
