Guidelines for GPLv3 Process Released
Justin Baugh writes "The Free Software Foundation and the Software Freedom Law Center have released a document detailing the guidelines and the process that will be used for revising the GNU GPL, and have launched a new website related to the V3 process. It was announced in a press release this morning that the FSF will be releasing the first discussion draft of the new license for comments at the International Public Conference for GPLv3 at MIT on January 16 and 17, 2006."

Traditionally, with the arrival of the last dual "King" of the world's empires, the most successful political ploy for bringing down one's opposition is to put some of your own men in place. These days they are called "moles" but the process is the same old grind since the Roman Empire.
So now that the open source community has a bastion you must expect the NSA and various "interested parties" to be mining away already.
See how congress (is it? the US government prior to the modern method took over) allowed people like Verisign etc to run committees to oversee security matters on the internet, ousting the people who now form the ASAP web ring for example.
Hard to see how the present incumberance will have them railroaded off to torture chambers around the world otherwise.
