HP's $150 Business Inkjet 1000 Printer
nodbody writes "CoolTechZone.com has reviewed HP's latest Business Inkjet 1000 printer that claims to compete against laser printers in its class with its productivity and cost effectiveness. According to the review, "The most impressive part here, apart from the sheer number of pages printed, was that the printer did not get stuck once during the entire print run. This might've been a fluke, but we don't think so. The printer looks sturdy and solid and now we know it has the performance to match it." The author further adds, "The quirk aside, frankly, we are very impressed with HP's Inkjet 1000 printer. If you want an economical and extremely fast inkjet printer (assuming you print mostly black and white documents instead of graphic intensive work), we wholeheartedly recommend this printer to anyone who's in the market for a device that costs $149.99 on average."
How much do ink refills cost? (DRTFA)
I don't see the point of this. I have a 20 ppm laser printer that only cost me $99 canadian new. Similar deals are not hard to find.

For business print quantities, they'll announce a "high capacity" ink cartridge. Printer - $150 Ink cartridge - $500 Somebody who'll buy this - Priceless
HP's $150 Business Inkjet 1000 Printer (-1, overrated)
Slashvertisement.

The black cartridge is about $27 new (HP original), while the last cartridge printed about a thousand pages. While the pages were only text (very few if any graphics/charts/tables), the end result is that the cost per page isn't such an improvement for the specified model.
(the printer is used for daily prints, and a thousand pages were printed in less than a month)
I couldn't find the word "google" in the article. Am I missing something?
Ink for this thing doesn't appear to be unreasonable:
HP 13 Black Ink Cartridge C4814A $24.99
Ink volume: 28 ml
HP 10 Black Inkjet Cartridge C4844A $33.99 (looks like a promo price)
Ink volume: 69 ml
Does anyone know what the page rating for 69ml cartridges is?
Unfortunately unless you need a color printer on the cheap, the cheap laser printers have an adequate duty cycle, and cost less in supplies.
Basically, unless you can hook up an oil drum full of ink beside an inkjet printer, these printers will never be business class.
Toners have like 5000 page output counts, inkjets are measured in 100's. Also, toners are easy to replace relative to inkjet cartridges.
Also consider that color laser printers have dropped to sub $400 range, and you can also buy B/W laser printers for the same price as this inkjet, laser printer no longer have the price premium associated with them.
There is a place for a "business" class inkjet, primarily if your a graphics designer looking to proof work quickly without setting up larger poster sized inkjet printers that use both expensive ink and media, but as a general office use printer, it is very hard pressed to recommend an inkjet.
I haven't thought of anything clever to put here, but then again most of you haven't either.
Is the ink waterproof?
