Earbud Headphones May Cause Hearing Loss
benr writes "According to an AP report, the earbud headphones that are so popular for ipods and other portable devices may lead to hearing loss. From the article: "The big culprits aren't the devices themselves, but the tiny 'ear bud' style headphones that the music players use. 'Unfortunately, the earbuds are even more likely to cause hearing loss than the muff-type earphones that were used on Walkman and portable CD players'""
I only ask this cynically. We have people suing for spilling coffee on themselves and for smoking too many cigarettes. Will someone take advantage of this and then try to claim Apple (and other companies possibly) are responsible for their hearing loss? Where do we draw the line?
Yeah, maybe the Blink 182 shows are a bit too much for you. When mom picks you up in the minivan you can have her play your favorite Jesse McCartney CD (Boy, what I wouldn't give to throw feces at that little homo).
Punk indeed. Go to bed now. Big day tomorrow, you'll get to learn arithmetic!

This looks like a sig but it's really just me ripping on your pasty butt some more.
I particularly enjoy rubbing your noses in my towering intellect. On a personal note, I am an avid mustard enthusiast.
You stupid motherfucking cock sucker. I am SOOOO into punk you wouldn't believe it. I started listening to punk back in the 90 when "The Edge" radio franchise appeared in my city. A lot of my friends weren't into it and didn't get my rebellious ways, but that's their fucking loss. I like to turn convention on it's ear by listening to Green Day and Rage Against the Machine. You won't catch me listening to mainstream pop crap. Except for Ashlee Simpson because she's a punk rocker to the core! She even said so in her blog. She loves punk rock and you can hear it in her music and see it in her style. She's not into that fake wannabe "punk" 70s crap from the Ramones and the Sex Pistols. Those guys were just lamers without an image or a decent product so they got labelled "punk" by the mainstream press. But in reality all they had was shit because it wasn't selling an image. The first REAL punk band was Nirvana. God rest Curt Cobain's soul. May he punk rock out in heaven for all his days...
This comment is bordering on the nonsensical. You might be referring to normalization, and you are almost certainly right about sound getting muddier at higher volumes (but that can be both speaker limitations or your ears), but why previews? And what the hell do you mean "percieved[sic] as much louder"? It IS or IS NOT. Volume is not a perception, it is an absolute, in terms of dBs. You think there are special guys who sit around and just do sound for previews? And they come to the conclusion that louder is better? Most likely you have sub-par speakers or a sub-par setup that causes YOUR sound to come out muddier than it should be.
