Classic Game Endings Online

Game Revolutions has a project running to collect together some of the finest game endings from the 16- and 8-bit eras. Some of the examples they have for viewing via Flash include Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past, Flashback, Secret of Mana, and Starfox.

Here is the correct link for Starfox.

Personally, I wish that they didn't restrict themselves to consoles. There were a lot of Commodore, Amiga, and early PC games that had great endings.

Yes, I remember getting whacked on that ending the first time.

For those who don't know, if you walked up to the princess (I believe that she was a princess anyway), you would have been in an attack stance and she killed you in one kick. You had to run into her arms. The real kicker (pun intended): there was no "save game" feature and it could have taken hours to get to the ending. Play for hours, walk up, receive kick, die, start all over again. Desire to beat the sh!t out of the programmers at Broderbund ensues.

I remember a cool game on the Amiga called Flood. The objective of the game was to escape hundreds of levels of flooding underground caverns and get to the surface. The ending saw the player (a little green monster) climp out of a manhole on to a busy street, and as he's jumping for joy he gets run over by a truck.

      Classic.

Not a console game, but it is "16-bit".

Many game endings can also be seen in the tool-assisted game movies on http://bisqwit.iki.fi/nesvideos/ . In fact, you get more than just the endings there - you also get to see the entire games, played perfectly (or at least nearly so).

(And for the record, no, I'm not affiliated with that site in any way or shape at all - I'm just a fan who enjoys those movies.)

On the Gameboy version, winning Game B, level 9, 5 high results in a ending sequence. First, a bunch of dancers and musicians perform for you, then you watch a shuttle launch.

In Game A, attaining certain high scores is rewarded with smaller spacecraft launches, started with a puny probe and going up in size to some moderately impressing rockets.

Would recomment you download a walkthrough for Another World, once you know what to do game its not very difficult and not really long either, can be played through in 30-40min.

The only bad thing i have with this is that i can't roll as easily as i used to. It's as if the down key would get stuck :( bummer.

It's tremendously easier if you use the Spiral Attack available (much) earlier in the level. He'll die in about 2-3 hits.
