Interview with Joshua Schachter of del.icio.us

prostoalex writes "Joshua Schachter, a Wall Street programmer by day, and a del.icio.us hacker by night, is interviewed by Guardian. The article also provides a little background story on del.icio.us, how it got started, and how Schachter convinced Stewart Butterfield of Flickr to add tagging to the photo sharing site. Both del.icio.us and Flickr are currently members of the Yahoo! family."

Anybody have any insight, or even a good suggested name for these people?

"Gay" and "stupid" seem to work. They're not invented, but I think they'd work pretty good. It would even go along with the lack of academic discipline.

An example use case: Fanboi69 makes his new web 2.0 webpage on connecting the camera on his cell phone to his blog to del.icio.us and then to flickr on Yahoo or whatever. Then, he pays off an editor and gets his "article" posted to the front page of /. Then, somebody can post and say "Hey, that's stupid." Then someone else can post about how it's not stupid because he's utilizing Web 2.0 elements in order to revolutionize the internet web space, and the new paradigm shifts it's going to cause or whatever. Then someone else reply, "Uh, yeah, whatever, you're both gay."

    They mention about server trouble,
Delete the word "about" and learn to write in proper English.

but I've never managed to get it working with my browser
Stop using Internet Explorer and get a decent browser like Firefox.

the URL looks like it might be the cause of the trouble.
I would disagree. URLs don't cause problems like that.

Perhaps it's my work firewall or something?
Again, learn English! This is NOT a question, and the first letter should NOT be capitalized.

    What's wrong with www.whatever.com?
What's wrong? Strictly speaking, nothing. It's just BORING. By your logic, you wouldn't be able to access "politics.slashdot.org" or similar URLs because they are not "www.whatever.com"-style.

Apparently, you have no knowledge of how TCP/IP (the layer 3/4 network protocol used on the Internet) works. Names aren't usually filtered out. Firewalls don't use URLs. When you type a name into your browser, it looks the name up on a name server (using DNS) and retrieves the IP address. Go learn about networking before blaming.
