'The Judges decided that these acts of downloading and uploading qualified as private copying' Ars Technica has more coverage on the subject, or you can read it in english from the organization that lead the defense."

Listen, what we're really talking about here are to societies. One society used to be the king sh*t (France), and they're just a little bent out of shape because now they're just known for being a bunch of smoking pastry eating fools. Now, I'm not going to say who's king sh*t now - but we all know that it's Turkey.
It's a victory for the comman man, not for rights. The fact is, this guy broke the law (violated the TOS, whatever), and got away with it. I'm all for personal use, and I even torrent movies/games/etc., but the fact is that this is wrong. Don't give me any crap about "overpriced products." The fact is, yeah, products are overpriced, but if you don't like it, the solution is not piracy, the solution is boycotting, or maybe protesting.
All this case does is say that it's OK to do illegal stuff. If I steal a car, I would expect to be punished for it. If I get caught stealing movies, I'll be punished, and I'll pay up (and go right back to pirating).
