Craigslist Sued For Violating Fair Housing Laws

The Good Reverend writes "The Associated Press has a report today about online classified site CraigsList being accused in a federal lawsuit of violating fair housing laws by publishing discriminatory classified ads. Current law, which applies to newspapers, prohibits ads that discriminate on the basis of race, gender, family status, religion, all of which can be found on Craigslist."

How fscking stupid can you iberals be? Next thing the weather you don't like will be the fault of GWB. The Fair Housing Laws have been around a LONG time and they can ASK for violations to be reported but can't require it. You can ask for the moon to be made of cheese in a lawsuit, it doesn't mean you are going to get it. I'm sure POTUS has more things on his mind than what Craigslist is doing or not doing.

Go ahead, mod me down to Troll.. I got lotsa Karma.

"Christian" is Fundyspeak for "Southern Baptist Conference, Fundamentalist/Literalist, Born-Again, anti-abortion". Methodists might conceivably make the grade, but occasionally backslide into the pit of Satanism that all the other false Christians occupy. Catholics are of course not Christian, but rarely is it said out loud.

    Pro Choice goes both ways.
    Yep!

Your new boss comes over and fire you for not being "his/her" kind. That's a pro-choice, right?
But if they fire you because you remind them of their ex-*friend or their mother inlaw, that's fine?

Your landlord tells you that he/she is not renewing your lease because you are not his/her kind. Pro-choice right?
But if I discover I'm a "cat person", and want a cat, they can kick me out?

Gas attendant doesn't want to serve your kind. Pro-choice? Yup.
So they lose me as a customer, and unbiased people get more business. Jerks losing money is a bad thing?

Your application for a loan is turned down because Bank doesn't want your kind running business in the neighborhood. Pro-choice! yeah~
If they don't want to give you money, why should they be forced to? It belongs to them.

Your kind can't use his/her kind's bathroom because bathroom isn't for your kind. Pro-choice written all over.
"Bathroom is for paying customers only".

Your kind can't shop at his/her kind's store. You have to walk 20 miles down the road to shop at your kind's store. Pro-choice is the brand of that sneaker!
So we outlaw FUBU and women-only gyms?

    Get the point?
No. You seem to think that when it comes to friends, family, associates, business partners, lovers, spouses, and people that ask me for dates I can discriminate freely by sex, age, intelligence, politics, race, beauty and kindness, but when it comes to employees and renters, and certain kinds of discrimination, you make a literal federal case out of stopping me. Freedom that stops when money chages hands isn't freedom.

It seems reasonable to me to want roomates of the same religion.

Hey Einstein, this does not apply to roomates. This applies to landlords who are leasing out property. But rest assured, even if you are leasing out property, you can discriminate all you want. Build your own Jesus fantasy land. Call it "Head In The Sand Villas." Just do it quietly.

If you got rid of the Civil Rights Act, the different states in the union would come up with their own policies, which would make us all more free. It isn't right for the feds to impose the Civil Rights Act on the USA. There is no way the commerce clause of the constitution applies here, if it ever did.

And finally, the implementation of the Civil Rights Act is flawed: it is used as a club against whites, and not against Jews, blacks, hispanics, Chinese or other groups that are more discriminatory, on average, than white people.

The Civil Rights Act might as well be called the "Shlomo's way to Kill Whitey Act".
