Quad Core Chips From Intel and AMD

From the article: "Chips with two cores have been the latest rage, with both Intel and AMD selling those microprocessors as their high-end offering. Apple Computer Inc.'s new iMac, which started selling last month, uses the dual-core chip ... Not to be outdone, Randy Allen, AMD's corporate vice president of server and workstation division, said Friday that his firm is working its own quad-core processor for release next year."
In the near future we'll likely see DragonFly BSD taking the lead as the performant open source operating system.
They have put much effort into creating a system that scales very well, at every level, on multiprocessor systems. The other BSDs are only beginning to catch up, but even then they've got a long way to go. Linux may be able to remain competitive, just due to the larger userbase and corporate backing.

When sun announced 8 core CPU shashdot did not even mention it even though I submitted a news. However since shashdot is now foot licking slaves of microsoft and intel this "news" is worthy of mention.
lol n00b, power-usage ~= Heat output. Aside from fans, and the ~20mA of output on ethernet 100% of the power used by any computer is making heat.

If the Screw-tards at Intel/Amd/Sun could actually design a cpu worth two shits, it would run sub 1mA.
