RadioShack CEO Resigns

xzvf writes to tell us Forbes is reporting that RadioShack CEO David J. Edmondson has resigned. Reeling from a 62% drop in fourth quarter net income the company has announced a sweeping restructuring plan. From the article: "Edmondson said in a separate statement Monday that new leadership was needed so the company's turnaround plan would have the best possible chance to succeed. The revamp announced Friday prompted mixed responses from analysts, who indicated the plan might be successful but, at that time, they doubted Edmondson's ability to pull it off after it became clear he had lied about his education."

I despise Microsoft and the garbage they shit out as software more than any other person on Slashdot, but...

I am quite certain I hate RadioShack more. Don't know why.

Sounds like "the Idiot" in the States - stole one election but the idiots liked his `mission accomplished` schtick ( in the face of all available evidence ) so he's back in now.

I hear bin Laden is planning another strike in the US. Of course, with calm, brave intelligent Bush in charge this is clearly a laughable suggestion.

You aren't alone there. We currently have a President in the US that lied on his job application too. But nobody here seems to care.

What was the lie? Well, you see, he does have a felony conviction for driving under the influence. But he said he didn't on his application (and yes, even the Presidet needs to fill in an application).

And here's another good one. "I'm just a good ole boy". Uh-huh. Sure. A good ole boy from Maine, who went to a private all boys school (where he was a cheerleader), then on to college (that daddy got him in to) and an advanced degree (that daddy got him). Sure - a "good ole boy".

Ya know, if you had any wonder that a half-wit can't be elected, found out to be a fraud, and then re-elected, just look at the current regime in the US. NUKE-yuh-luhr?

It seems like you hear about this more and more in the business world. Don't they even bother to check people out?

Of course "they" check this stuff out... but it's not important. What a giant corp is generally looking for when hiring a CxO is these kind of things:

    * Must be male.
    * Must look good wearing an expensive suit.
    * Must look intimidating wearing that suit.
    * Must have an air of bravado about them and command authority even when they don't know shit what they're talking about... especially when they're spewing bullshit.
    * Must already be rich and own lots of stock.
    * Must have a proven track record of being an artful and successful liar.
    * Must have no scruples whatsoever screwing over both their customers and loyal employees.
    * Preferably has had multiple extramarital affairs and been thru at least one divorce.
    * Willing to be a puppet and scapegoat of a ruthless board of directors, each of which meets all the above guidelines too.
    * Actual knowledge, skill and competance in the industry is undesireable.

I worked for Radio Shack for about 2 months, and it is no suprise to me that it is losing market share and closing a lot of stores, I am mildly educated when it comes to electronics, so I expected to come in and recieve if not a large amount of training, useful hints and such from the staff.

What I got was 5 flash based tutorials on how to sell cell phones and sirius radio systems, suffice to say I quit asap, I dont like feeling the fool when a man comes in asking for something and my company has not given me any training on how to do my job.
