Utah Votes 'No' to Darwin's Critics
NewbieV writes "An article in Tuesday's New York Times notes that proposed legislation which would have 'stress[ed] that not all scientists agree on which theory regarding the origins of life, or the origins or present state of the human race, is correct;' has failed by a 46-28 vote in a Republican-controlled state House of Representatives."

Riiiiiight. Democracy and Tyrrany often look like the same thing.
And now that I can't shut up, feel free to copy my opinion on the thing.
Darwinism, when taken on itself, says the universe spontaniously came into existance for no reason whatsoever at all and that mankinds choices lead to his evolution. Meaning, man is god since man created himself and decides his reason for existance.
Christianity, when taken on itself, says the universe was created by a divine entity, who created man in it's image. Man will one day become God, since god is reffered to as the father and one day all children grow up, but it will be by gods judgement that man becomes god.
When combined, the theory goes; the big bang happened, the universe began evolving by gods will and over a few billion years (or days, however you want to call it; good luck conclusivly prooving it either way) and eventually became what it is today. When earth was created it's inhabitance began evolving, animals and plants were made which had residual self-sustaining energies to pass on gene's and personalities from generation to generation as a countermeasure to plants poisoning the genes of it's predators as a way of limiting their lifecycle. The longest lived things are always plants; tree's, which usually die as a result of the environment, given the track record of millenia old tree's, animals should live longer but they don't since if they did, they'd run out of food and plants can't run so they'd go extinct in short order so they poison the genes of their predators and even curb their evolution in a fashon they desire. Eventually those energies evolved in one instance, mankind, to the point of being a self-sustaining, reincarnatable immortal soul which could only be destroyed should it decide to believe itself not to exist. Great spirits, by the names of angels, existed before mankind and came to earth later on, seeking to prey on humanity and eventually we had lucifer and the entire demonic and angelic classes of spirits which any schitzofrenic, exorcist, or mildly gifted telepath will tell you, exist in addition to the lesser spirits of the dead. Ever since then, it's been a spiritual war building up to armageddon; the point atwhich the self-sustaining spirits and the predatory spirits battle it out for domination and the self-sustaining ones, becuase they are stronger and smarter, win and the material plane becomes paradise. Or at least that's my take on it.
Darwinism is less logical than christianity when you take it for a "how did everything come into existance" thing; often it also evolves into a "why are we here" thing which christians also have a better answer for. Darwinism says there's no point to existance and death; a viewpoint of extreme nihilism. Christianity says you have a choice. Either way the question will never be answered conclusivly because if it were, we'd lose, all at the same time, our greatest flaw and greatest feature, what makes us human; the ability to make a choice for no reason whatsoever at all; the sword of the spirit as the bible calls it I believe.
Infact, the universe spontaniously coming into existance yesterday, as it were, due to a divine beings will has more proof than a chicken-and-egg theory such as darwinism when taken on it's own.
The elites like darwinism; it allows them to become predators since the strongest survive and the strongest, to them, is a predator. So it only makes sense they'd want to do it; it justifies their beliefs against their better judgement.
Evolution and speciation are science, as abundantly demonstrated all over the place. Complaints that they're not, from someone called "Marxist Hacker 42", whose logic promotes nonsense like
"If you're losing, you have two options: lose or don't compete. If you're winning, you have only one option."
in every post, are about as useless as your implication that science is a way of being certain.
Have you stopped beating your wife?

The bill failed only because it was an issue that most felt should not be decided through legislation, but by the board of education.

If something as complex as humans can evolve on their own, then how many years do we have to wait for something simple to evolve on it's own....Light bulb....telephone.....pencil....Microsoft Windows....Ice Cream.....Chocolate Milk.
I think Evolution is just too unbelievable. It is right up their with the Toothfairy and the Easter Bunny.
I think I have a moral responsibility to give my child the benefit of something that has done so much good for my life, and the lives of so many others I know.
The Muslims and the Scientologists are saying the same thing about their children.
All religion causes people to disregard logical thinking and follow a certain set of someone else's beliefs as truth. It causes people to believe in things so strongly that you end up with people believing stupid warped and twisted things that science has already disproven (Intelligent Design for example).
Please, think of the children.
Dont raise an idiot.
