chrisd writes "The Summer of Code is officially on again this year. As of today, we're taking in applications from mentoring organizations, so watch that list of mentoring organizations grow! Then, starting May 1st, we'll start taking student applications. We've prepared two FAQs, one for Mentors and one for Students. We've also have created an IRC channel and Google Group for you. The website for the Summer of Code can be found at http://code.google.com/soc/."

And here I thought Google was making money hand over fist. Why not hire some kids to do the programming, and not only not pay them, but get them to actively work for free. It's a stroke of genius.

I made $4500 by coaching, lifeguarding, giving private lessons, getting a tan, and spending time with my gf -- all outside.

I guess you could spend your "Summer of Code" doing it on a laptop, outside, but the interaction level is far more when you're actually dealing with people (in person) than sitting behind a computer screen.

The original comment stands. GO OUTSIDE. You have a lifetime to sit inside and work.

You're also used to having sex with young boys. Is that a requirement for the summer of choad as well?
