E3 Previews for Capcom, Activision
Next Generation is offering up dirt on E3 lineups this week. Today they have offerings on Activision and Capcom. The one that grabs my attention? "Resident Evil 5 - To be perfectly honest, it's really likely that Resident Evil 5 is going to be a prettier Resident Evil 4 with a new plot and only minor alterations. The same could be said of the jump from Resident Evil to Resident Evil 2, however, and nobody can say that that sequel wasn't worthwhile."
But the best part is when he hands some bazooka shells to the girl (can't recall her name), "I've found a weapon.. It's really powerful!" Yeah, Barry, I'm sure you're talking about the shells. My friends and I had a few good laughs at that line. Still, the game delivered a thrill factor and I sincerely look forward to Capcom's follow up to RE4.
This sig isn't original enough, it's time to come up with something witty...
Shock, horror. Film at 11.
In other news, Final Fantasy 12 is an RPG, FIFA '07 is a football game, and the next Prince Of Persia will probably be a platformer, too.
"I Know You Are But What Am I?"
At the risk of sounding like a fanboy, the only company I'm actually curious about (at E3) is Nintendo. Its not that I don't think the other companies will have amazing games, but more that if you took the other developers/publishers game releases from the past 5 years you could predict what games they are going to show, what the games are going to look like, what they're going to play like, etc.
...FIFA '07 is a football game...
Maybe it is in your country... : p
This guy's the limit!
Actually, RE4 changed the RE play style significantly... chnaged the camera system, the combat system, added "cinematic action" elements similar to Shenmue...
The sequel wasn't worthwhile.
"" How about taking the safety labels off everything, and let the stupidity-problem solve itself? """
But the article states that RE5 will basically be a prettier copy of RE4. One can only hope that Capcom won't make the mistake that Ubisoft made with Prince of Persia. Sands of Time got game of the year, so they made a sequel with a totally different combat system (that caters more to the PC version) and a lame storyline.
If Capcom is smart, the only thing they'll improve is the graphics, and change the story line. The rest should stay the same.
So we have a few titles, but most are sequels, and nothing has been said about how they'll be different, controller-related or not. Donkey Kong and Mario are forecasted for 2006, and that's all we get. Keep on guessing.
Use my userscript to add story images to Slashdot. There's no going back.
The article didn't say much of anything about what platforms the games would apear on for E3.. but i figure from the screens they're mostly 360 or ps3.
He whom you called four-eyes yesterday, you call Sir tomorrow.
I hear FIFA '07 is actually a soccer game.
Would you kindly mod me +1 insightful?
I agree. RE4 was my favorite console game of 2004. It was excellent. Hopefully they won't mess up the sequel.
That's true. But were you really expecting them to completely change everything all over again, now they've found a system that isn't completely horrid?
"I Know You Are But What Am I?"
I was just responding to "So the new RE game will play like an RE game?", which implied the series' gameplay has remained unchanged.
My point was that RE4 didn't play like the previous RE games.
It's a fair cop, guvnah.
I'll plead the mitigating circumstances that it's not so much the controls that have changed as the new camera making those controls sensible at last, but you're right.
