California Reaps Google Windfall
theodp writes "The SF Chronicle reports that California took in a record $11.3B in personal income tax receipts in April, $4.3B more than it collected last April, attributing a significant chunk of the surprise windfall to Google employees. Fourteen of Google's top execs and directors sold $4.4B worth of stock last year, including founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page, each of whom unloaded about $1.3B."
"unable to pay for health care"
Don't you mean "unwilling". If you don't take care of yourself and your family, who will? C'mon people step-up and be responsible for yourselves and loved ones. What ever happened to the rugged individualism that this country was built on?
There is a minority of people in the financial assistance system that are truly desrving of the programs, but this isn't the main reason for the problems with hospitals in SOUTHERN California. The main reason is the influx of illegals who don't pay their bill.
What California *should* do with this money is invest in infrastructure or something that will give a good ROI. If they don't want to do this, then they should give the money back to the citizens. After all, it IS our money.
