Metal Gear Solid Movie Confirmed

Gamespot has word that the Metal Gear Solid movie project is a reality. All we really know is that Uwe Boll will not be directing. From the article: "After assuring readers at length that German director Uwe Boll will not have anything to do with the project, as rumored, Kojima talked about the film. 'I have received many offers to adapt Metal Gear Solid, It has taken a long time, but we have finally settled on an arrangement,' said the revered designer. 'False facts aside, a movie project is underway. I have finalized a Class-A contract with a party in Hollywood.' Kojima did not mention the name of the party, a release date, or any potential directors or stars."

    • Snake being stripped to the waist and tortured.
    • Snake hiding in a cardboard box.
    • Snake being told off for smoking.
    • Snake's comrades thinking he's dead and crying "Snake? Snake! SNAAAAAAAKE!"
    • Johnny Sasaki getting the runs.

    Those are the essential ingredients!

. . .They leave out the Diazepam Snake used to steady his hands while sniping. Kurt Russell?? That would kick ass since he is by far the best actor in the history of mankind. Ever.

I honestly hope they do a good job with this. Hollywood has lost nearly all of my faith, when trying to make movies from games. It really is a hard sell. Those people who play games, and would best appreciate a movie, are the types of people who won't appreciate a movie, because they play games.

When you play a game, your creative side gets involved, and you make your own story up as you go along, no matter how sound a plot the game might have. That just isn't possible in a movie, especially when Hollywood shoves a precanned experience down your throat.

They should consider getting David Hayter to adapt the game's script to a screen play. He did a fantastic job on the first two X-Men movies, and more importantly he is the voice of friggin' Solid Snake. I can't think of a better choice considering his unique and talented background.
