Immersion Queries Lack Of PS3 Controller Rumble

simoniker writes "Following the announcement that the PS3 controller will lack a rumble feature, Gamasutra spoke to Victor Viegas of Immersion Corporation, which is currently suing Sony over the PS2 rumble functionality, about what he feels the company's reasoning truly is. He claims of the PS3 controller having both rumble and tilt: 'I don't believe it's a very difficult problem to solve', and also said that his employees thought the PS3 controller 'felt light, that it felt cheap and flimsy, and that it lacked weight or substance.'"

Now, now. We're all aware that Sony consoles are pieces of crap. (Anyone who ran their PlayStation upside down to solve disk read problems can collaborate this.)

But no one in their right mind would ever confuse Sony technology with being cheap. Shoddy, yes. Pieces of crap, yes. But cheap? At $500?

Sony prides themselves in making expensive pieces of crap, like MD or ATRAC. It's not exactly a new thing. How the PS2 "won" the last round of the "console wars" will always be a mystery. Apparently the "Sony fanboy with lots of money" market is larger than I thought.

That being said, can we stop with the endless PS3 stories? The PS3 is going to be a giant flop, and all you're doing by reporting on it is keeping the name in the news. Please, report on the XBox360 and the Wii some more! They're the future of gaming, not the PS3! Unless, of course, the media concentrates on PS3 news to the point people forget there are competitors.
