Leisure Suit Larry's Maker On Wedgies v. Bullets
simoniker writes "Al Lowe, the creator of lounge lizard Leisure Suit Larry, has been talking about his comeback game with new developer iBase Studios, Sam Suede, asking why games nowadays are too violent, and revealing of his new title: "there's going to be guards, but instead of slitting their throats, you'll give them a wedgie." He also asks: 'Let me put this way, the shelf is full of racing games and shooters, RPGs and action games. Where are the comedies?' Well, where are they?"
PLEASE DON'T MODERATE UNLESS... YOU KNOW WHAT THE FUCK YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT. Everyone who played Leisure Suit Larry knows what this is. Everyone who didn't should stay the fuck out of this story.
Sometimes in my dreams I envision a site like slashdot, only more elitist. I know I know, that sounds impossible, but I'm envisioning something like a cross between slashdot, digg, and amazon mechanical turk. First, story submissions would be tagged and moderated by the top n % of the user database. Those which attained a certain score would hit the front page; the top n % of stories for the day would be represented there.
Finally, for each tag a story is marked with, you'd have to pass a test, like a mturk certification HIT if you wanted to be allowed to comment in it. Therefore we could have a leisure-suit-larry tag, that would come with a HIT that determined if you'd played the game... :)
"You're right," Fisheye says. "I should have set it on 'whip' or 'chop.'"
