Indeed. If you're going to put child porn on a computer, at least encrypt it. I'm not going to say anything bad about people who just look at pictures: at least if they're getting their filthy little rocks off into a box of Kleenex, I know my kids are safe.

BTW: how to delete stuff and make sure it stays gone. First, save {innocuous} crap on the hard drive till it's full and won't fit anymore. Ripping CDs as .wav files, or scanning images as .bmps, is good for this. You want there to be no free space at all on the drive. Second, delete the stuff you don't want found. Now the only place there is any room to save anything is where the stuff you deleted used to have been. It's still there really; just marked as "free space, but only to be used as a last resort". Third, save more crap on the hard drive till it's full again. Now you have definitely overwritten the stuff you deleted before. Last, delete all the crap you saved. Anyone trying to recover deleted files will end up recovering the last thing you saved, not what you saved it over the top of, which is lost for all time whatever Guttmann says. Nobody has ever done it in practice.

If you know someone who works in retail and can get you an out-of-date stop list from a credit card company, so much the better ..... type this up as a spreadsheet, and save several copies.

As a matter of fact, I support action against the Sudanese government for its suppression in Darfur, and did my best to attract publicity to its campaign of violence by participating in last month's rally in Washington for American intervention. That aside, I imagine you too might find it hard to produce much of value if you were prevented, as Palestinians have been, from engaging in business and free trade within itself, let alone the entire outside world. The Israeli-enforced limitations on mobility of goods, people, and economic services within the West Bank and Gaza are essentially equivalent to house arrest; under these circumstances, is it any wonder legitimate business has had difficulty establishing itself in the area?

Oh, but don't take my word for it:
Over four years of intifada, and Israel's consequent clampdown, have hammered the Palestinian economy, once a source of cheap labour and goods to Israel. The 130,000-odd Palestinians who worked in Israel in the 1990s dwindled nearly to zero though since a peace summit at Sharm el-Sheikh two weeks ago a few thousand have been let back in.

Lengthy border checks, with trucks sometimes waiting for weeks, delay imports and strangle exports. The haulage price from Israel's Ashdod port to Gaza has quadrupled, says Alaa Eddin al-Araj of Gaza's contractors' union. The number of construction companies in the strip has fallen from 300 to 120. Private-sector investment, says Mohammed el-Samhouri, an adviser to the foreign minister of the Palestinian Authority (PA), has fallen by two-thirds. Overall, Palestinian GDP per capita has dropped by around a third, similar to America's collapse in the Great Depression, and the poverty rate has nearly doubled--even as foreign aid has roughly doubled too, to nearly $1 billion a year, the highest per capita rate in the world. ...

In a small, closed-off strip of land, with a population of 1.3m that will nearly double by 2020, what sort of economy can there be? Many of Gaza's orange groves have been razed by Israeli bulldozers on security operations; its exporters, shorn of a market, have collapsed; it suffers from high (ie, Israeli) costs compared to other Arab countries, a shattered infrastructure and a flimsy legal system.

No freedom-loving people should call it UKP, because that is an implicit acknowledging of the british occupation of Irish Island and the rule of henry8ist heretics over catcholic christians. The natural right of the aboriginal irish people to live under a free republic encompassing the entire Irish Island should be upheld by the international community, with arms if necessary and the heretic invaders should be expelled. Depending on how selective your memory is, you might remember that ALGORE CONCEDED DEFEAT IN 2000 BEFORE CHANGING HIS MIND.

The fact of the matter is that the margin of victory in the Florida presidential election was smaller than the margin of error. Algore's advisors convinced him that all he had to do was manufacture a few hundred votes in a recount of hanging chads and he could manufacture a win.

HOW GEORGE BUSH STOLE ELECTION 2000

"Al, this is David Boies of Boies, Schiller & Flexner LLP, America's richest trial lawyers. I apologize for calling so late, but this won't wait."

"Look, I know you've already conceded, but I've been talking to some folks in Florida and they think they can find enough extra votes down there to give you the state in a recount."

"Just a recount in Volusia, Palm Beach, Broward, and Miami-Dade counties, though."

"If it goes statewide our people will be spread too thin to keep things under control."

"Do you want to give it a try? At this point you've got nothing to lose."

"That's great, Al. I'll give 'em a call and we'll get this show on the road."

"Call Bush right away to let him know you've changed your mind."

"On second thought, call a press conference first."

"Talk to you later, Mr. President."
