Frozen Chip from IBM hits 500 GHz
sideshow2004 writes "EETimes is reporting this morning that IBM and Georiga Tech have demonstrated a 500 GHz Silicon-germanium (SiGe) chip, operating at 4.5 Kelvins. The 'frozen chip' was fabricated by IBM on 200mm wafers, and, at room temperature, the circuits operated at approximately 350 GHz."

Please mod down posts that do not quote properly. (The quote should span multiple paragraphs, making it easier to follow)
Also, please mod down posts that fail to adequately specify what they are quoting. (The quote is from a comment about the linked article; merely providing a link to an article would generally imply one is quoting the article. Furthermore, while assuming the authority of a source such as physorg.com is one thing, but why should one accept the comments of some random web surfer?)
Finally, please mod down posts that consisted of little more than two copies of one quote lumped together in one highly unreadable block of text. (If only we all understood that when you hit the preview button, you should actually read the preview, not just look at it to see if it's pretty!)
