FCC Approves New Internet Phone Taxes

basotl writes to tell us CNet is reporting that the FCC has approved a new round of taxes for internet phone service. Some 4 million users could receive this nasty little surprise as early as their next monthly bill. From the article: "The VoIP industry wasn't alone in questioning the FCC's move. In a letter sent last week to commissioners, attorneys for the U.S. Small Business Administration urged the agency to postpone its action until it had done a thorough analysis of the economic effect on smaller providers."

I actually agreed with what you were saying until the criticism of "what they've done to our economy."

From all indicators that I have seen, that's the one thing they have done pretty well with. This administration came into office with a recession inherited from the previous administration, and turned it around into a strong economy.

Unemployment is low, inflation is low, new home construction is up, the markets are healthy. What's wrong with the economy?

I do take issue with their out-of-control spending, but the economy is fine.

Since when can an EXECUTIVE BRANCH of the US Government agency declare tax rates?

Since not only Bill Clinton help to create NAFTA along with Mexico and Canada, but also George W Bush extending NAFTA to erase our borders without congressional knowledge; Both of which was without congressional knowledge. The republicrats and democans are out to destroy the US and to create a diversion; they attack one another on who hates the US more. The only thing that can stop shit like this is to vote straight Libertarian. Not only do the Libertarians think outside of the box and have individual ideas and positions on issues, they know the separation of powers in the three branches of the government; as a libertarian president would get congressional approval for anything as the constitution calls for.

That brings me to another point, with the republicrats and democans in all three branches of the government, they have defeated the separation of powers. The judicial and executive branches are legislating by creating new laws in several ways:
    1. Via executive order
    2. From the bench
    3. Various departments of the executive branch such as the FBI, the FCC, etc.

The legislative branch is in a sense vetoing bills by filibustering bills they don't like. Also, both legislative and executive branches are persuading the judicial branch to rule something constitutional when it isn't and vice versa. The Libertarian party would keep it constitutional by doing the following:

    1. The legislature branch would do the legislating.
    2. The executive branch would:
          1. Either sign the bills into law or veto them.
          2. Write a bill and let the legislative branch vote on it.
          3. Enforce the current laws as long as they're constitutional
    3. The judicial branch would be simply for court cases. They would base all of their decisions on state and federal constitutions, as well as laws in the law books as long as they are constitutional. The US Supreme court would also rule laws and programs constitutional or unconstitutional.

So once again, the only party that would stick to the constitution is the Libertarian party, the party of principal.
