I want to switch from OS X to Ubuntu... the idea of using a free operating system patched together from a bunch of small applications is really appealing and I think it would look good on my Macbook Pro. I've used Redhat once a long time ago but I'm pretty much a linux newbie. The thing is, I don't know which to use: KDE or Gnome? Which is better? I am pretty sure Redhat came with KDE, but from what I remember the K stands for 'Krap.' Also if I switch to linux will I still be able to use my iPod? I'm really worried about that.

You might be able to learn something about being a mature voice in the Firefox community as opposed to your usual Anyone-But-Microsoft cretinous hyperbole
