Ant writes "The Sci-Fi channel has announced that it will not be renewing its (very popular) original series Stargate SG-1 for another season. The spinoff series Stargate: Atlantis will get the nod, though, airing for a fourth year. SG-1 aired its 200th episode on August 18th, and the SF series is the longest-running SF show on American television." Gateworld has further details: "New episodes of both Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis continue Fridays this summer starting at 9 p.m. Eastern/Pacific, leading up to the mid-season finale on September 22. The second half of the season will begin in March, leading to SG-1's final bow on SCI FI in June."

Or does anyone else find the pap that Jos Whedon writes to be juvenille? Everything about the shows he's done always seem to come from the perspective of some moronic teen who *thinks* he should have respect from others because of the awesome power he can wield or the incredibly knowledge he has. But in reality the kid is just a prick with an ego problem who is self-deprecating as a front to pretend he isn't a prick. I'm not talking about the characters in the shows themselves, but the mindset of the creator/author. The stupid affectation of taking your key characters and killing them off after something really good happens to them. Yeah, I had that idea when I was twelve and thought it would be awesome. Then I turned thirteen and realized how lame it was as a dramatic device. Better to go over the top and make it a humor device instead. There also seems to be somewhat of a libertarian bent (gag) in some of the programs. Pretty much an every man for himself style approach with the individual being celebrated for their striving and "great achievments" when in reality, you're talknig about sad, lonely people who don't relate well with others and are highly distrustful.
