'Stargate: SG-1' Cancelled
Ant writes "The Sci-Fi channel has announced that it will not be renewing its (very popular) original series Stargate SG-1 for another season. The spinoff series Stargate: Atlantis will get the nod, though, airing for a fourth year. SG-1 aired its 200th episode on August 18th, and the SF series is the longest-running SF show on American television." Gateworld has further details: "New episodes of both Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis continue Fridays this summer starting at 9 p.m. Eastern/Pacific, leading up to the mid-season finale on September 22. The second half of the season will begin in March, leading to SG-1's final bow on SCI FI in June."
Farscape.
Please, try not to sound so stupid...
Sorry, but stargate should have been canceled YEARS ago, while there was still something left besides stupid rehashes and lack of ideas.
HI O WISE PRINCE. WHT TOOK U SO DAM LONG?
"Ten seasons and 215 episodes is an astounding, Guinness World Record-setting accomplishment."
At least the Star Trek producers had the decency to stop running the same old plots into the ground after seven seasons of their shows. SG-1 has been running the same story into the ground, over and over, for far too long. Here's hoping that they're clearing the way for something better - or at least another Galatica, which had the decency to reuse old ideas that had been on the shelf for a couple decades.
Let's face it: if you're a SciFi male, your Friday nights already contain a viewing of Battlestar Galactica. That kind of makes SG1 superfluous; you're already watching. However, SG-Atlantis is as close to "Dr. Quinn, Starship Woman" as SciFi gets, so they keep that one around so SciFi females have something to watch too.
Well thank God it finally finished. I mean, don't get me wrong and all, every geek chromosome in my body ached to not zap away when this was on and at very very limited times it was actually mildly funny, but i ask you, how many times can a show repeat itself? Basically every episode was a (usually boring) rehash of the previous one. No, a good show is allowed to rehash now and then. No problemo with that.
Let me give you some examples: (Actually not only sg-1 is guilty of this, i know plenty of other tv-series that did the same. They found a cool gimmick, and they milked the sh*t out of it).
-The whole dial thing. I mean jeez. And what about the actor who actually has to say "Chevron 5" everytime for 2 seconds and then can go home.
-The G'oald. Milk it for all their worth baby.
-Amanda tapping. She's annoying.
-McGyver. He's trying to be funny whereas i don't think he should be funny. Not in a authoritative position anyway. I mean, look at all the teammembers. They don't take him seriously. They could have evened the scale by just once, have him do a serious episode where he would show what's he worth and why he is a bloody leader of the platoon!
-The Antropologist dude. He's annoying to.
-The general. I think this guy just stands all day on the bridge saying stuff like "What's up McNeill?" and "Alrightty!" or "Get me the president".
All in all, to make a long story short; it's a boring and insult to any self respecting geek to watch this crap. Yes i do watch it, can't help it. But come-on for gawds sake. Do they think they can get away with anything these days? I'll bet it's cheaper on the props if they can re-use a single set each day.
Oh well.
The third, and by far the most excellent device is the TIVO.
Get a life on Friday night, and watch yer shows on Saturday morning
instead of cartoons.
TIVO is great for instant replays, rewinding to see what you missed,
pausing while getting more pizza and beer, and FF through commershes.
All on a fast Hard Drive with live Cable TV.
Regards,
Roger
