Doom on Xbox Live, Jackson Making Halo Game
Microsoft is pulling out all the stops in its X06 Keynote today in Barcelona. The announcements are flying fast and furious: Ensemble studios is making a Halo RTS, and Peter Jackson is making a new Halo game (unrelated to Halo 3 or the RTS). The HD-DVD will be $200 in the U.S. with a release aimed at November of this year. They've got a good deal of 360 exclusive content including the next Splinter Cell and GTA IV Episodes, and (initially) Bioshock. Bioshock will also be on Windows, of course. Windows is also the platform on which Microsoft is announcing a new Massively Multiplayer game from Cryptic Studios, a new super-hero MMOG based on Marvel Comics' IP: Marvel Universe Online.
Where was the big news?
The HD-DVD drive is a joke. 200 dollar add-on - no thanks and it can't even be used for games. Halo RTS? That sounds like something that would be better left to the shareware/homebrew crowd... And Peter Jackson? Virtually every other 'big name' movie guy involvement in games has been crap - perhaps I would be more excited if he hand't butchered LoTRs.
Along with Gears only being 10 hours long and looking nothing like those silly marketing shots. Hopefully they can finally manage to get the game to run at 30fps and no screen tearing like so many other recent games have been plagued with.
Where is this Microsoft has the cash to buy exclusives like no one else. Either they really don't have that cash to spend or they are getting ripped off.
Wait, you're actually serious...
Woa, now that's pathetic.
PS. Does the 'x' at the end of your handle imply some sort of badassness about you? You know the latent home fratboy Xbox demographic?
I was wondering what I'm going to do with my Windows machine...
Here's one idea...
