PS3 Problems Cause Sony Stocks to Slide

eldavojohn writes "Gamespot has an article describing PS3s operating erratically at conference demonstrations.' In its defense, Sony said the PS3 failures were caused by unusually high temperatures created by having many of the next-gen consoles operating in close proximity to each other. 'It's not a problem with the PlayStation 3 unit itself,' Sony spokeswoman Nanako Kato told the AP. 'For a normal player at home, there shouldn't be any problem.' As a result, Sony's stock slid 2.75%. I guess they should have thought first before releasing five times the number of kiosks as they did with the PS2 — they're causing each other to overheat. There goes my PS3 beowulf cluster idea!" Update: 10/04 20:40 GMT by Z : anti-human 1 wrote in to mention a GamesIndustry.biz article, with a flat denial of overheating issues from Sony. "As could be seen on the TGS floor by the tens of thousands of media and public attendees, both the hardware and software worked flawlessly."

yeah buy a shitendo piss u total fanboi. its a higher clocked gamecube with a different controller and a pathetically small ram and memory card upgrade. its ancient hardware being sold for way too much. the controller doesnt even work like most people think. people at e3 said ur movements arent mimicked onscreen, ur gestures merely replace button presses. thats complete shit and not a revolution at all. also the graphics vs gameplay arguement is complete bullshit cos i dont see any revolutionary gameplay from gamecube hardware so why should we expect any from the shitendo piss which is just a repacked cube plus gimmick controller? if u want revolutionary new gameplay u need some serious processor power to pull it off. more realistic physics being an example. im sick of crappy presequenced 3d animation. theyre only just starting to do a physics api and dedicated processor. we wont see any games with more realistic physics for years. the shitbox360 and piss3 are in a better position to bring revolutionary new gameplay due to their power but that aint gonna happen cos games companies are stupid and play it safe with the same old crap.

so in conclusion... shitendo piss is old hardware with minimal upgrades being sold for a rip off price under the false pretense that u dont need graphics for revolutionary new gameplay, just a gimmicky controller... bull and shit

shitendo reels in the suckers yet again

Hey, I'm all for the Wii too, but isn't it a little silly to say that an unreleased product that has not been tested by the public has never had any one specific problem?

No, it makes it a tautology!

I think everyone realises that MS is the borg. Just that a lot of people have realised that resistance is futile, so they just go ahead and buy that shiny new Xbox.

After all of Sony's behaviours over the past while especially, let me be the first to throw them an anchor if they are really drowning. They're not drowning, but if my refusal to buy a ps3 helps in some way to bleed the company's stock price a little, my single malt will taste that much sweeter.

    Go fuck yourself.

Sony would not be in business if they operated this way.

That's the way they are headed. They are a large company and they have kind of a long glide path, but the way they are currently behaving is not condusive to their continued existence.

I doubt Sony feels this way internally

How individual employees feel I'm sure depends on where they speficially work at Sony and what they do. Of course, they want the company to do well and improve. I did when I worked at Sony.

but they have to put on a good face because A LOT is at stake. This isn't some small product that Sony is putting out there. The company employs a lot of people, and many jobs are at stake if Sony makes too many mistakes.

That's right. I'd hate to see my friends laid off because of Sony's mismangement -- oops I already did see them laid off last year due to Sony's mismanagement. Too late, I guess.

Really? My wireless controllers stop working when I get out of "line-of-sight" to my 360. It doesn't matter how close it is to the xbox.

I have mine on my desk beside my widescreen monitor that I play it on and if I lower the controller below the desk (like under the roll-out keyboard tray)it loses connection.
