Iran Caps Net Access to Keep West Out
davidwr writes "The Guardian reports that Iran has banned high-speed internet access to attempt to curb the west's influence. In addition to seizing satellite dishes and filtering more websites than any country save China, Iran is now capping Internet speeds to 128kbps in order to keep out Western influences." From the article: "The latest step has drawn condemnation from MPs, internet service companies and academics, who say it will hamper Iran's progress. 'Every country in the world is moving towards modernization and a major element of this is high-speed internet access,' said Ramazan-ali Sedeghzadeh, chairman of the parliamentary telecommunications committee. 'The country needs it for development and access to contemporary science.'"
i predict a very low number of posts on this story because there is no way to tie this act of stupidity to america or bush, and how they are to blame for conflict in the middle east.

1. Iranian president didnt say he want to wipe Israel off the map. he said Israel SHOULD be wiped off the map. So much for your point 1 2. Iran had a democratically elected president in the 1950s untill they decided to nationalize their oil reserves. The CIA immediatly stepped in and cased a bunch of trouble to Iranians. USA has been meddiling in Irans afairs for 50 years Sure theu consider USA a great Satan. Wouldnt you if somebody is constantly trying to exploit you and to meddle in your internal affairs? And NO, a CIA document wont do here sorry. Nor a speach given by powell or Rice using words such as mushroom clouds. I want to see proof about the alleged Iranian nuk'ear program. If you cannoty present me with any please stop using that excuse. While we are on this topic. I am STILL waiting to see the famous weapons of mass distractions or at least the weapons of mass distaction program Sadam had. Or programme if you cannot gimme the program. Our money is falling against practically every currency in the world right now and our trade imbalance with china coupled with our insanely high deficit (due to an illegal war fought over a lie, in order to keep the oil flowing out of other countries by scaring them shitless, and intended to create huge profits for companies like Halliburton) are going to put us deep into the bottom of the hurt locker real soon now.
