Peter Jackson Will Not Be Making The Hobbit

An anonymous reader writes "Due to legal wranglings with New Line Cinema over accounting issues for Lord Of The Rings, Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh will not be involved in the making of either The Hobbit or the planned Lord of the Rings prequel." I suppose there is still a chance that Jackson & Co. could end up involved, but at this point that looks unlikely.

Complexity? Tolkien is about as complex as GWBs either you're with us or your against us rethoric.

And further more, a more boorish and long-winded writer has never existed. If he had a decent editor, the fucking book would be 200 pages long.

But in any case, it's our opinion, you have yours, and there's no need to use uncivilized language.

The problem is people who dislike the movie tend to present their opinion as widely accepted fact, and bring the "uncivilized language" upon themselves.

A sad day? More like a happy day! Anything that stiffles me having to hear about anything to do with one of the WORST FANTASY NOVELISTS OF ALL TIME is a good thing IMO. I wish I could like Peter Jackson too but he keeps doing movies of things I hate like Lord of the Rings and King Kong. Whats next the Shannara series? Ugh.

Have any of you even read the books? Did that pile of trash REALLY entertain you? I mean really? Those books never deserved to have movies made after them in the first place. Tolkien may have started modern fantasy, and when you look at it like that how can people treat him like hes the best? First never = best. When you are the first those who come after you can do nothing but improve. Saying tolkien is the best would be like saying Adam (as in Adam and Eve) was the best specimen of man ever.

If you want to read GOOD fantasy read The Amber Chronicles by Roger Zelazny. Now there is a series that deserves movies. Read The Prism Pentad by Troy Denning. Check out some Neil Gaiman. Hell even Robert Jordan is better and I got tired of his never ending story at book six!

And no this isnt trolling. I am not doing this for the sole purpose of pissing people off. I am saying this because its my opinion. Tolkien is boring. He was a linguist not an author. It was an experiment. Get over it.

I could really care less. I have never liked PJ as a filmmaker or as a person. He is George Lucas on steroids. The last movie that supposedly was worth a Best Picture Oscar was nothing more than just a lot of quick cuts between massive CGI battle/crowd scenes.
