PSP, PS2 Sales Skyrocket

Spurred by the scarcity of the PlayStation 3, hungry consumers are buying all the PSP and PS2 units they can get their hands on. The PSP's sales have shot up by 280 percent over last year, while the PS2 was up a respectable 115 percent. From the Eurogamer article: "Additionally, sales of first-party software are also up, according to SCEA. PS2 game sales rose by 120.6 per cent, with PSP software sales increasing by almost 168 per cent. Sony has yet to publish figures for exactly how many PlayStation 3 units have been sold in North America since the console launched there on 17th November."

Fuck you #1: This year, Vice City Stories.

Fuck you #2: Last year, Liberty City Stories.

There's also a shitload of other titles available but I won't list them because it's a waste of time for trollcunts like yourself.

That and where the fuck is a MicroCenter? Is that in flyover country? Yah - I'll just order some plane tickets and head on over there - oop - that would be adding to the cost...

Right - highest grossing franchise in the PS2 and PSP's history. Yuck yuck - they're not any good. I guess Zelda and Mario must suck to high heaven too then - because you know - people bought them in droves. Fuck-you again!

Dude, that is about 4 hours of work post-tax for most people based on US census figures. For an entertainment device that provides hours of entertainment (1.5 to 2 hours per day of commuting) that is a small price to pay. If you figure the average person takes the train 5 days a week, for 50 weeks a year, for 2 hours a day, that's 500 hours a year.

$70 means those 500 hours will be that much more enjoyable. What does it cost to better enjoy those 500 hours? A mere $0.14 per day.

You are clearly a college student.

Hello Mr. Uninformed dipshit. Let me enlighten you a little. XBMC is an OpenSource dashboard for the X-Box. X-Box + $15 mod chip thats so easy to install a 6 year old can do it (are you gona let a 6 year old show you up?). Once you do that you just load up the latest t3ch build of XBMC. Hell if your that poor and $15 will break the bank theres plenty of softmods out there for the price of free. Yes theres a little bit more involved in putting things together, but your on /. You can't be that stupid now can you? Once you, "git er done" it's smooth sailing. The best part of it to me is the ability to actually have what you want for once from these boxes. Want to play DivX, Xvid, Ogg, MKV, etc? All the codecs are provided. You even get DVD playback without the $30 adapter that apparently it too expensive for you. Hell you can even stream video from a PC on the network. It's what I do. My TB server pumps out video and audio to my 3 X-Boxes around the house. Microsoft made the best Media Center system ever, and they just made the hardware!

Plus! How the fuck low is the volume for your movies? I can crank the fan on mine up to 70% (20% is standard unless you mod) before it's audible during normal use. Then again, I have the money to have a decent sound system. Not to mention, you actually watch DVDs on your PS2? The PS2 by FAR has the shittiest DVD playback I've ever seen in my life. PC software DVD players look better. *twitch*

But by all means. Remain in your little fantasy Digg world that the PS2 is anything but a piece of crap (I'm an owner of 4 failed PS2s here!). To each their own lil fantasy world I guess.
