EA Forms Wii-Centric Studio

Despite analyst assurances that there would no longer be many console exclusives, EA is forming an entire studio for Wii titles. Larry Probst revealed this tidbit in a very interesting interview with Newsweek's N'Gai Croal. They've since acquired Headgate studios, rebranding it EA Salt Lake. From the article: "I don't think the Wii is going to be any different than all the other Nintendo platforms. Nintendo is going to have a very significant market share, and all the third party companies are going to have market shares that are single-digit or low double-digits. We think that we can be very competitive in that environment. We don't have any expectations that we're going to have a 30 percent market share, as we have had on Xbox 360, on PlayStation 2, or what we're targeting on PlayStation 3. But I think we can have a meaningful market share on the Wii platform, and be in the number two position behind Nintendo."

    Wow, talk about crazyass fanboys.

Yes, it is shocking that the engineers who work at the Redwood Shores campus would rather work on the PS3 than the Wii hardware. Just shocking!

And I obviously don't live in the Redwood Shores Apartments with a 12+ year SSE who drives his BMW down the street to EA everyday. And I obviously don't shop at Nob Hill across the street from the RS campus. Or am a member with various other EA people at the Pacific Athletic Club across the street from the RS campus. Or that I know the number one complaint about the cube setup in the RS dev building after the move from the old offices up a couple exits...

Yeah, I'm really a PS3 ninja out to assassinate the Wii. You got me!

It is funny little piss ants on internet forums like to hype Wii, Xbox, PS3, etc. Everyone that's been in the industry hates reading forums and doesn't care about fourm input for that reason as well. Did you know a top requested fourm feature for a major RPG title was 'rape'. That's why we hire forum admins to clean your horrible ideas off, before you scare off our real customers. =)

I hate to break it to you kids, but most studios could care less about doing a Wii title. Do you really think every studio wants to sink a huge team budget into a title that's very low margin? If you're selling 'to the masses' you're developing for Playstation 2. It amazes me how the idiots on this forum don't understand the cyclic console cycle yet. I guess it proves most forums are full of 12yr olds and basset hounds that can type.
