New Stargate Series In the Works
Skythe writes "Gateworld reports that an exclusive, third Stargate series is in the works: 'The new series is in the concept phase, and is being actively worked on by the Vancouver creatives behind Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis. No concept for the show has yet been revealed.'
Gateworld also reports despite the cancellation of SG-1, the series is likely for a 2007 debut. I wonder if the direct-to-dvd movies will any influence on the new series, and what the concept behind the show will be?"
You're all joking right? TV and film generally sucks. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that sci-fi novels and short stories make the film and TV version of the genre look like my attempts at writing fiction when I was 10. Take Herbert's Dune for example - he created an awesome world full of history and developed characters. Then take David Lynch's adaption of Dune - it blew monkey dong. Or the Sci/Fi channel's version which was better than Lynch's but of somewhat poor production value. Some stupid things in other sci-fi movies/shows - 1) Star Wars. The Deathstar is probably the stupidest sci-fi invention of all. Though we are approaching the stage in real life where we are able to blow up our own planet, the evil dudes in Star Wars evidently believe that something like the Deathstar is the best way to go about it (George Lucas had probably never heard of anti-matter). 2) Star Trek. Where to start. How about the fact that every alien looks human but have weird shit on their head. Apparently there is some sort of convergent evolution in the Star Trek universe.
Don't worry about the mule, just load the wagon.
