Canadian Phone Company Selling Porn
westcoaster004 writes "Telus, Canada's second-largest telecommunications carrier has started selling pornography to its cellular subscribers. The service allows subscribers with mobile browsers to purchase both photographic and video adult-oriented content from Telus, at an average of CD$4 per download. Telus decided to introduce the service after noticing that there existed a certain 'segment of the population that is interested in that content' from review of the mobile Web browsing habits of their subscribers 'on an aggregate level.' They are the first telecommunications company in Canada to offer such content. A Telus spokesman said: 'We're fairly certain that if our competitors in Canada haven't launched it, they will soon. Same in the US.'"
Unfortunately it was big enough to elect Harper. Just like your RRR wackjobs elected Bush for a second time.
Though they just got that because Harper muzzled himself (and his nutbar candidates) sufficiently to convince more moderate conservatives (who would previously vote for the centrist "devil you know" Liberal party) to vote for him to punish the Liberals for the sponsorship scandal. You may recall that during the last election, he announced his promise to reopen the gay marriage debate right at the start of the campaign, without much media presence, so people would forget about his homophobic, "the earth is only 6000 thousand years old" base (you know, like Stockwell Day), while being distracted with tax cuts and a "tough on crime" agenda.
Of course, he's now apparently pissed off that religious base by pretending to move more to the centre. On the other hand, it's not like they've got anyone else to vote for (except, perhaps, the new "Albertan Bloc").
No, they are mostly agnostic wackos. That is why Britain (a mostly agnostic and atheist country) seems to have more of them per capita than the US (a mostly Christian country which contains most of the world's Christian fundamentalists).
