Ubuntu 7.04 (Feisty Fawn) Beta Released

vivaoporto writes "The Beta version of the popular Linux distribution, Ubuntu 7.04, was released today. Codenamed Feisty Fawn, the CD images can be downloaded from the Canonical Servers, and the final version is due to be released next month. Get it while it's hot!     A good replacement for Diaper Drake (aka Dirty Diaper) for sure. The current one should be called Explosive Excrement, if not just because of the colors -- it's all over the place! And they should name this one Filthy Fart (and just keep the current colors). Next one will definitely be Greasy Grandma, followed by Hairy Homosexual and Icky Incontinent. Ubuntu names so rock!

    Code names are fine - there's absolutely no problem with using them, as long as they're not used as the official terminology.

    Which they're not.

    I just want a version number so I can look at it and go "yes, that's a bigger number than I'm aware of previously, so it must be a new version".

    (Well, maybe not the Garbled Groundhog or Hungry Hippo yet, but you get the picture--although it would be WAY cool if they used Hungry Hippo!). Hungry Hippo would be cool, but that would most likely result in a trademark lawsuit.

    Still, knowing Ubuntu, the next two releases will likely be:
