ScummVM Ported to Nintendo Gamecube/Wii
Croakyvoice writes "Rodolfo Portillo has released a port of ScummVM
for the Nintendo Wii and Nintendo Gamecube. ScummVM is a program which allows
you to run certain classic graphical point-and-click adventure games like Simon
the Sorcerer, Broken Sword and Flight of the Amazon Queen. You will have to use
SD
Load to run this on your console." No offense to Broken Sword, but it's all about Day of the Tentacle for me. Update: 04/10 16:45 GMT by Z : Technically, this is a GameCube port. The Wii's backwards compatibility allows it to work there anyway, but it's worth clarifying.
Since it's GCN homebrew, you can't use the Wii hardware, which means no pointer support (which would be the only reason I would want it). Calling it Wii homebrew when it runs in Gamecube mode is just wrong
"I think an etch-a-sketch with an ethernet port would beat IE7 in web standards compliance."
They keep saying 'Wii homebrew' but it's not. It's GameCube homebrew, which the Wii will play because it's backwards compatible. It's kind of like taping a VCR to a DVD player and claiming your DVD player plays VHS tapes. From all I can see, you won't get a bit extra from the Wii's added power and it will be identical to just using a GameCube.

Hi, I'm selling these fine leather Wiimote covers.
And why was Monkey Island not mentioned in the main post? For shame!
People already replied that MM is supported by Scumm, but you don't even need that if you can play DOTT. There is an arcade machine inside DOTT that you click on and play Maniac Mansion as a game-within-a-game.
DOTT is the best of course!

Indeed! I would think that Day of the Tentacle, Monkey Island, and Sam and Max Hit the Road would be all that people need to jump at this!
Sam and Max would be a big magnet for this now that the duo is back in the forefront of gaming thanks to TellTale Games. Those who were not around to experience the original game that started it all can go back and play what we've been talking about for over a decade!
The Overrated mod is for reversing inappropriate, positive mods, not for voicing disagreement with a post.
How about you bring ScummVM to the Virtual Console line-up? I know its not really a console, but there's no denying that there's a *ton* of popular games just waiting to be revisited, and you've got the perfect input device to do so.
