New Crackdown Content Dropping On XBL Today
The Team Xbox site is carrying details on new downloadable content for Crackdown on the 360. Probably the most comprehensive downloadable content made available since the 360 launched, the new pack adds three vehicles, a number of gameplay modes, a 'cheats' mode, and ten more Achievements to the title. "For Crackdown, Realtime diligently follow the post-launch forum chatter and attempted to address all of the concerns with the base game, while at the same time adding new content to keep it all fresh. There are also some items that perhaps didn't make the final cut for Crackdown's original launch (time constraints will do that to a project of this magnitude) but have been prepared and thrown into the upcoming DLC code. However it actually came about, Crackdown's Title Update, 'Free-for-All' and 'getting' Busy' packs are a win-win for those allied to the Agency."
so how many points is this gonna cost us?
Major Nelson has links to videos of the new content on his site. Believe me, they are worth watching. The new equipment and Keys to the City videos are incredible - they're really giving people a sandbox to just have fun!
"You know your god is man-made when he hates all the same people you do."
Even if you were achievement whores, most of the Crackdown points are easily achieved. You should be able to get everything but the "beat it all in co-op" achievement within a week of finishing the game (or within two weeks of purchasing the game).
For us achievement whores, new content with new achievements is impossible to pass up :)
I for one didn't find the controls sucky. They're as good as any other third-person actioner. In particular, they seemed a little better to me than, say, the GTA games, especially when it comes to targeting.
If you want to experience controls that suck in ways best described with terms from barnyard pornography, check out Star Trek Encounters...

Maybe I should unwrap the plastic on my copy of this game.... the one I bought on release day and then set on a shelf while I played other things. I keep hearing good things but it's one of a handful of games that I've purchased and haven't got around to opening let alone play. Just too many games to play and not enough time to play them
With new content available and your claim of a relatively short game overall, I think I'm convinced to bump it to the top of my "to play" list.
FWIW I didn't order it for the Halo 3 beta, I really don't care all that much for the Halo games. I actually have 8 or so games that I've bought but haven't got around to playing yet.

Agreed that the controls were pretty good.
And I liked the target quick for a bad shot, wait a second to refine the targetting...
SO YOU'RE GOING TO DIE: The Comic for Dealing with Death
This game was great. I spent many hours playing it and then again playing co-op. If you didn't enjoy it well it might not be your cup of tea or you and your friends are a bunch of wet blankets.
Seriously, that's nearly enough stuff for a small expansion pack right there.
I bought the game this Monday -- I finished the (admittedly short) main story about clearing up the three gangs yesterday. I got pleasantly surprised discovering that this DLC hits tonight!
Leveling up builds character.
So, by "today" I guess they meant "at some point in the nebulous future." Just signed on expecting to see some interesting stuff... and nothing. No updates, no new content, nothing.
I'm with you here. What I also appreciate is the fact that limb hits actually mean something - bosses are easier to manage after you've shot that HMG out of their hands, and when you're starting out leg shots make great setups for grenade/thrown object kills...
A shame that each gang doesn't have a 'Clean Kill' achievement (wipe out the gang without causing any civilian/Peacekeeper casualties.

still no female agents? Am I the only one with a Motoko Kusanagi fixation ?
I've experiments to run, there is research to be done on the people who are still alive.
