World Population Becomes More Urban Than Rural
biohack writes "A major demographic shift took place on Wednesday, May 23, 2007: For the first time in human history, the earth's population is more urban than rural. According to scientists from North Carolina State University and the University of Georgia, on that day, a predicted global urban population of 3,303,992,253 exceeded that of 3,303,866,404 rural people. In the US, the tipping point from a majority rural to a majority urban population came early in the late 1910s."
Unlike you, they went to a real university so that they could envision and complete projects like these, with confidence. I do understand, however, how a task like this could seem daunting to someone whose education consisted of a few networking classes at a junior college.

You really wouldn't want to do that, because there's rules. Just like rules in de hood where you live, country rules are "we've been economically screwed and exploited for generations by the city dudes. If their cities collapse and all those clueless rude people start streaming out here to get our food, all that means is it's a vacation day at the turkey shoot in a target rich environment"
Along those lines anyway. And don't think you are rambo either, because you aren't. You may be able to hunt up a cab, but that's it, you aren't sneaking around our farms and woods and thinking you're cool or anything. Because you aren't.
If your cities collapse, a word of advice, stay home, deal with it, chew on your "stock" certificates,have a nice long drink from your portfolio, contemplate how much you made with globalization and putting the rural farmers and the suburban blue collar factory guys out of work or working for peanuts while you bitch about "only" making a hundred grand a year with full bennies. Maybe starbucks will support you, because you ain't getting any of our livestock, or our cabbage, or corn, or tomatoes, or wheat, or anything else either. Try to take it, find out how pasty and non leet you are.
Until the collective "you" in the urban termite mounds stop it with the exploitation and internal colonialism, and non stop putdowns in your "news" and "movies" and TV shows about country people, don't expect any welcome mats. When you let entire communities go bankrupt to "save the spotted owl" because you saw it on TV and lobbied for it at greenpeace, or when you bitched that some farmer who has to work 16 hours a day to clear maybe 25 grand a year is "greedy and just living off the taxpayer with subsidies",don't think stuff like that isn't noted and filed away in the rural folks memory banks. You overpaid and overstuffed arrogant city folks will be deserving what happens to you, you've screwed over your poorer neighbors in your own nation now for years, so when your congames of paper financial wealth and "service" jobs collapse around you, don't expect much other than a "get lost-now"
Ya'all need to wake up some. Your reality gets piped into you from the rural areas, all your food and water and energy-all of it. It doesn't come down your internet tubes as much as you think it does. And it doesn't have to be that way. And if you screw up, it won't be that way. You guys are modern days colonial imperialists and you know what? The "natives" are getting rather annoyed with that.
