The History of Photoshop
Gammu writes "For the past fifteen plus years, Photoshop has turned into the killer app for graphics designers on the Mac. It was originally written as a support app for a grad student's thesis and struggled to find wide commercial release. Eventually, Adobe licensed the app and has sold millions of copies." Achewood's Chris Onstad also offers a different take of how it all went down.
They say its the reason the iPhone is gonna be so good. :P
Isn't it over $600 now (street price)? That's insane.

What is the deal with people who try to wax nostalgic about a freaking piece of code? Every open-source HOWTO starts out with a history lesson that I immediately skip. I just want to know how to be as productive as possible as quickly as possible - no time for a damn history lesson about a program. Now we have history lessons for closed-source apps as well? Listen carefully, geeks - NO ONE BESIDES THE DEVELOPERS THEMSELVES GIVE A DAMN about the history of a program. If your boss asks you to give him the highlights of how a particular product works, do you start with a history lesson or do you get right to the meat? If you don't want to piss him off and make him avoid talking to you at all costs, then you don't start with the history lesson because I guarantee that he cares less than I do. This is just more useless geek trivia to fill your egg-shaped noggin and guarantee that you have absolutely nothing interesting to say to women. If you're going to read up on history, at least study the history of something that you will be able to talk to more than 2 other people about.
I'd rather eat the shit than the veggie burger.
