Pirate Bay Launches Uncensored Image Hosting
Spamicles writes "The guys over at the Pirate Bay have launched a new, censorship-free image hosting website called BayImg. Users of the new service don't have to sign-up in order to upload images. However, they can assign a 'removal code' to uploaded images, in case they want to delete the files after a while, and tags to categorize images. BayImg currently supports 100+ file formats, and supports uploading Zip and Rar archives. The maximum file size of uploads is 100MB. The article also discusses TPB's plans for launching a video streaming service that will potentially compete with YouTube."
> Three people over thousands of years created some works without copyright.
I think you meant to say that your cultural education is as extensive as knowing of three authors worth reading in the last two millenia. This could be a defect in the societies of earth (perhaps noone has written anything worth reading), or it could be in your education (perhaps you have not made any effort to learn to read). I think it is a good exercise for the student of literature to figure out which is closer to the truth...
Give me a break. It is well past the point in time where we call TPB what it really is. This site, since inception, was about stealing copyrighted materials (Movies, TV Shows, Music, and Programs). Nobody can argue differently. Anyone playing the card old card of "they just created a tracker," that is bullshit and you know it. The site is called, The PIRATE Bay for crying out loud. They set out with the mission of allowing people to use their service to do their dirty deeds. Now, that is not the big issue here, we all know what they wanted to do and are, in turn, doing now. The problem is that the site fundamentally doing wrong with their service. They know full well that laws are being broken by their users when they snatch a file most of the time. They, themselves, are not breaking any laws by providing the service though. So they are legal, but the actions taken by the users of the site are often illegal. A quagmire of sorts, and that is where we stepped in. We defended them and their right to have the service, but now they deserve no defense.
We defend TPB because we care strongly about our rights and specifically, copyright issues in the digital age. It is a sort of "I do not agree with what you say but I will fight for your right to say it" sort of thing. Thing is TPB is not a moral entity at all. They are legally protected, we know that, but this new service, just like the old, is being put in place to facilitate immoral things for their users. Why do we defend TPB anymore when they do these sort of things? I am torn honestly, I want their rights to be protected as they should be, but when it comes down to it, they are doing wrong. At what point do we sacrifice our own morals by protecting their rights? What is more important than our moral fiber is it our rights, the rights other people say we have? Or is it our morals and ethics which we decide for ourselves?
Personally, I am siding with my morals here, TPB is legal, but wrong. Defending them because they are protected by laws is not right if the laws do not protect against what is morally wrong. Of course, everyones morals are different so this becomes subjective, but like I said, I am torn! Argggg!
Sexual liberation. Yes, counter-intuitive as it may seem. While sex for pleasure has always been present and prostitution is reputedly the world's oldest profession, we've never promoted casual sex the way we do now. Children feel sexual pleasure, just read any modern literature on that and masturbation. It would then stand to reason that they can feel mutual sexual pleasure either with other children or adults. Even if they never saw pornography, it's not hard catching the message from any lifestyle magazine. That quite frankly scares the living daylight out of many parents, who are rabidly searching external reasons like pedophiles, child pornography, children watching adult pornography as explaination when it's really a bad case of monkey see, monkey do. This is pretty much their worst fear, a ten year old girl that was "raped" when in reality "Mr Justice Roderick Evans, at Swansea Crown Court, said the girl "was looking for a man and got what she wanted"." Frankly, I'm surprised he had the balls to say that even though it's true.
