G.I. Joe No Longer the Real American Hero?

Advocate123 writes "Clearly, Hollywood has forgotten the, 'Real American Hero.' G.I. Joe originally symbolized the American WWII soldier and a great generation. Now Hollywood celebrities are going to turn him into a international multicultural coed task force with no government affiliations. Isn't anything sacred to these people?"

When those Hollywood faggots take something PURE and WHITE like G.I. Joe and add niggers and bitches to it. It totally spoils it for me.

God, what fucking pussies those niggers and women are. They can't possibly repel evil! But you know what, I've been playing Dragon Warrior and that REPEL spell works pretty well.

OK, I'm going back to masturbating, crying, and calling myself the Messiah. My complete (new in box!) G.I. Joe collection should help me forget this politically correct incursion.

Haha. A division of madeover, euro-pussie Ken's is still gonna be tougher'n most of the real euro-pussie armies are these days (hey does anyone but the British and the Poles even still have one?)

Besides, after Barbie went Lesbo, all Ken really has left is war.

I'll bet he's in secret training right now...working out with a chainsaw.

GI Joe is a specific slice of Americana. Almost self-satarizing. It's silly, jingoistic, and a bizaar WASP attempt at social engineering (good republican values and no consequence violence)that has a lot more in common with Nancy Regan then something entertaining really should. It is it's brilliance and it's flaws. Paving over old flaws with newer fluffier pandering because people who didn't care in the first place won't find it as emotially threatening isn't an improvement.

That said the Greatest Generation crap is bullshit. Yes, they did their part, and it makes for a nice eulogy. But it's not like they happily fought the nazis for the good of everyone, and then ol' Tojo for good measure (those in the European theater who were going to be redeployed to the Pacific didn't think that part of WWII was any of their business), and then everything was rainbows and ponies. In the 60's a white man could pull a gun on a black NFL probowl player in broad daylight and wouldn't have to fear the consequences. Not the 40s. Not the 50s. The 60s. The civil rights movement might have had it's roots in the disenfranchised who came back from WWII having killed, bleed, watched friends die, but it was a fight that lasted DECADES. It was something "the greatest generation" had to dragged and beaten into accepting. Just basic human decency. I'm glad it is something so many of us take for granted. It's real wealth. It's a better life. Or a bigger life in a better world. But I'm not going to give people who tenaciously fought the great ideas credit when they were mearly present during the period where it became painfully obvious there was no other choice but to accept them. To me, it's 2nd degree hypocrisy.

In much the same way, whatever it is you're talking about isn't GI Joe. Sounds a little like Strawberry Shortcake though. But calling it GI Joe because 'money can do what it wants'; well, aside from THAT being quitisentially American, it's pretty douchy.
