Rock Band Drum Kit Modded

Brett "Buzz" Dawson writes "Seeing all of the Guitar Hero guitar mods I thought it would be an interesting change of pace to mod a full-sized drum kit for use as a Rock Band game controller. With everything that I build I take lots of pictures to document the build process so here is the full build of my drum kit." Fortunately at my house Kathleen has been doing the drumming, so I don't think I need to go to these extremes to handle the abuse. I'm more interested in mods that let you use the original drums as a real instrument like the guitar mods that are floating out there. The tiny bits of drum solo time in Rock Band don't satisfy my internal Keith Moon.

Thanks for reminding us that we're not real rock stars, and that video games are not the real world. I will stop enjoying my rock band drumsticks immediately.
I just play drums, can't play guitar for the life of me and I Really enjoy guitar hero. I'm just saying the sticks that come with it are not what most people would use in a show. Modding the set into something of a more full sized drum set while, yes, taking up FAR more room will make it a lot easier for people like me to play. It's like have to unlearn how to play the instrument to play the game.

You're a real musician, while all us fakers are just crappy little fools completely incapable of understanding what music really is.

No, you're crappy little fools for playing video games that require Fisher Price accessories and more practice than a real instrument.

If people spent half of the time that they spend on crappy video games on the real activities that those video games mimick, we probably wouldn't have a generation of fatasses.

Bowling, hockey, baseball, basketball, football... Add up the cost of the equipment to play plus whatever fees are incurred to play. Now, add up the costs of the video game systems, video games, and the cost of the health club membership that one would need to actually keep one somewhat in shape, and see how the two numbers line up...

As for music, I'll stick with my drums. Like real guitar players versus "guitar hero", a real, good drummer is a lot cooler than someone who's good at mimicking what the software wants for inputs to simulate the results of drumming.
