Mark Graham writes "All this week, UK games development site Develop has been running a series of articles under its 'WiiWare Week' banner, analyzing developer's affections for, and the potential success of Nintendo's upcoming WiiWare digital distribution platform. Most revealing is the claim that Nintendo has been secretly 'waging war' on the likes of Sony and Microsoft by capitalizing on frustrations over cuts to the Xbox Live Arcade royalty rate (down from 70% to 35% for any game making under $4m in revenue) and talking up the service's access to a wide audience to win over development support. It features commentary from both established developers (such as David Braben, creator of Elite, and Scott Orr, creator of Madden) — and indie teams (developers of new WiiWare games Pop and Gravitronix) making launch games for the service."
And in other news, it still sounds incredibly gay to say "I'm going to play with my friend's Wii."

What is the etymology of that practice? I mean, how in the world does the word "thousand" get abbreviated to the letter "m"? I don't care that it deviates from SI conventions, so does using "M" and "B" as abbreviations for "million" and "billion", but that's an obvious shorthand. Using "m" for thousands just seems needlessly opaque and confusing.

It is a fact the Microsoft and Sony give you 1080 while pretendo gives you piss as in piss on you. Historically pretendo has pissed on not only their customers, but their third party vendors as well.
The Sega Master System was far superior to the Pretendo Entertainment System in every way. The ony reason there were "memorable" games on the pretendo system was pretendo bullied their third party vendors.
The Sega Genesis was vastly superior to pretendo's second system. This time the third party vendors were starting to leave pretendo as pretendo burned Square Soft, Sony, phillips, and countless others.
As for the Pretendo 64, the real reason they went with cartridges was simple, they wanted to burn Sony with the Playstation Extension so they wanted to burn them again with the Pretendo 64. Fortunately they went with this decision as almost all of pretendo's third party vendors left pretendo for Sony and some with Sega. While some stayed with Pretendo, they did so to sabatoge them just as pretendo did with them. Why do you think the third party games on the pretendo 64 sucked? Then there was the 4KB texture limit, while Sony didn't have that problem. The only thing that saved pretendo was the Pokemon gimmick.
When pretendo decided to finally ditch the cartridge they still fucked up with their own proprietary media. This allowed Sony to have a superior system using DVDs. As a result they still had little if any notable third party games. Their first party games was simply rehashes of their previous shitty games.
So what does pretendo do with their latest system? Repackage their pretendo GameCrap and stick a DVD drive in it and as a result, the Pretendo Piss was born. While the systems from Microsoft and Sony are vastly superior, the prices have come down to the point of why purchase the overpriced shit from pretendo? The pretendo piss can barely even do 640 progressive while both the XBox 360 and PS3 can do 1080p.
Who loves the pretendo piss the most? The sheeple on slashdot. They love pretendo so much they would be happy with a system from pretendo even if they simply repackaged an Atari 2600 and sold it as the pretendo piss. I can already guess what the next pretendo system will be, a repackaged gamecrap/piss with little or no technilogical advances. Pretendo is a bunch of greedy bastards who don't even deserve to be in business.
As far as I am concerned, pretendo is more evil than Microsoft and Sony put together and the EU should be investigating them as well. If pretendo is given a chanve, they will become as anti-competitive as they were. At least Microsoft hasn't bullied the software manufaturers into supporting windows exclusively.
