In Soviet US, Comcast Watches YOU
cayenne8 sends us to Newteevee.com for a blog posting reporting from the Digital Living Room conference earlier this week. Gerard Kunkel, Comcast's senior VP of user experience, stated that the cable company is experimenting with different camera technologies built into its devices so it can know who's in your living room. Cameras in the set-top boxes, while apparently not using facial recognition software, can still somehow figure out who is in the room, and customize user preferences for cable (favorite channels, etc.). While this sounds 'handy,' it also sounds a bit like the TV sets in 1984. I am sure, of course, that Comcast wouldn't tap into this for any reason, nor let the authorities tap into this to watch inside your home in real time without a warrant or anything."
lame title. kdawson, do what the apple trolls tell you to and gtfo
Roe v. Wade
Knowledge is how to play a game, intelligence is how to win, wisdom is knowing what game to play.
and this is exactly why i purchased several firearms from a dealer that didnt require I.D.
Fascists exist in every society.
While that may be true, most countries don't elect them to high government office as often as we do.
Heil Bush!
Gerard,
Thanks for making the record clear. However, once you're done aligning your synergies to prevent any paradigm shifts of your organic resources, you'll realize that this tech has only been "out there" since it was presented in the CES show a couple of years back. It is an immature technology. I say immature as it will not be utilized by the majority of your subscribers for two reasons:
1) Widely misunderstood. The only people that keep up with the tech are the engineers, and young people that have the time in the industry.
2) Compatability. Considering most people (adults) are still running
off of pre-XP Pre-Core Duo systems you'd have a hard time in integration. Quite frankly you should just wait the 3 to five years before it becomes a native hardware ability, built into the OS.
Considering your PR history, you really should Deep Six the whole idea tof any additional tech that could even come close to being misunderstood as monitoring, or limiting the users abilities of using the net.
Have Nice Day.
(After looking at your link, she is the grand daughter of Fascist leader Benito Mussolini. Just being a Mussolini's granddaughter makes her a Fascist like my grandfather makes me a golden gloves boxer.)
There is no "I disagree" mod for a reason. Flamebait, Troll, and Overrated are not substitutes.
You really are an idiot. Fascism is not the police state. Nor did mussolini EVER support one.
Fascism is the greatest political ideology ever conceived. Sorry.
If you miss that universal health care is a fascist play to control you "for your own good", then the propaganda has indeed worked well.
And if you're like ArcherB who seems to be utterly clueless about what a fascist is (other than "what them thar nazis were so anytime anyone brings them up I cry and scream and wet my diapers about godwin"), then obviously we shouldn't bother reigning in the power of government, and we should just sit around and wait for it to get worse before doing anything. Me? I'd start with requiring the president to follow the same rules everyone else does. If he doesn't think he should obey FISA because it's "unconstitutional" then I suggest he take the various cases he's made up (Jiminez, etc) and try to convince the scotus that he has more standing to challenge FISA than that lawyer who got the transcript of his wiretap in the mail does to challenge the president's wiretaps. If that slows government down to a crawl, congrats! The smooth operation of government will no longer be a priority over the individuals it crushes to lube the gears, and fascism (real fascism, which makes no requirements with regards to the direction you lean, where innocent individuals are sacrificed on the altar of Government for the "good of the whole") will become nigh impossible.
Also, lol, if you're going to claim that universal healthcare is a ploy to let the government force the fatties to get up and move at least once a day for their own good, at least people should say that rather than whining and crying about having to pay for the fatties' diabetes. The fatties would make sure it never gets voted in.
